SIOUX FALLS, SOUTH DAKOTA: A Minnesota infant tragically lost his life after he fell from a hotel window in South Dakota.

One-year-old Madden Hein got critically injured and died on Monday, April 15, just a couple of days after he fell from the third floor of the Club House Hotel & Suites in Sioux Falls, The Star Tribune reported.

Sioux Falls Police public information officer Sam Clemens reportedly said that while an investigation is ongoing, the fall appears to be an accident. "Everything just points to a tragic event," he told an outlet.

Infant Madden Hein was provided with treatment before getting hospitalized

Clemens said that nearby witnesses with medical training provided Madden with treatment before he was hospitalized. At the time, he had a pulse but was unresponsive, as per Sioux Falls Argus Leader.

Madden's parents, Kathryn and Alex Hein of Lakefield, Minnesota, said in an April 16 Facebook post that they are "having a hard time processing this all" and that their son's organs will be donated.

Alex is a social studies teacher at Jackson County Central Middle School and the head coach of the Jackson County Central High School boys basketball team. Kathryn is a kindergarten teacher in the district at Riverside Elementary and is among the girls' volleyball coaching staff.

Madden Hein's parents say their late infant is a 'superhero' as his donated organs will help many

"His organs are going to help so many other people," Kathryn and Alex's statement began.

"Our little boy is a real life superhero. We will get to do a honor walk with him to his organ donation surgery. We will give out information when we know as this is a process. We have had so much love and support. We have felt it. We can’t explain how thankful we are for all of your thoughts and prayers. THANK YOU!" the statement concluded.

A GoFundMe has been set up to support Madden Hein's family

A GoFundMe fundraiser has raised over $63,000 for the Hein family as of the morning of April 17.

"It is with heavy hearts to say that sweet Madden gained his angel wings late on April 15. We will miss him so much and are having a hard time processing it all. Madden is giving the gift of life to so many people by going through the organ donation process. Thank you for all of the love and support that everyone is giving Madden’s family," read the fundraiser.

"Madden has two amazing, loving parents who are teachers, an older sister who is 3 and a little sibling on the way who is due in August," the tribute continued. "Thank you for all of the love and support that everyone is giving Madden’s family."
