TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA: Chris Kise, the attorney of former President Donald Trump, claimed on Monday, April 22, that his client wants the evidence in his Mar-a-Lago case to be “open” or made public.

According to a report by RawStory, a considerable amount of the evidence involved in the case about the ex-president’s mishandling of classified documents is deemed confidential information.

What did Chris Kise say during his Fox News appearance on Monday?

Chris Kise made an appearance on Fox News to criticize Special Counsel Jack Smith for the way he handled the federal classified documents case, which is currently being heard in Florida federal court.

The ex-president's attorney stated on-air, "I think what we've learned fundamentally, is that the Special Counsel wants to keep everything secret, and that President Trump wants everything open.”

"This is probably one of the most consequential trials to come before the American people, and the American people deserve to know everything that's going on, they deserve to know every aspect of the case, and we have fought and will continue to fight to make that happen," Kise remarked.

Special Counsel Jack Smith has had disagreements with both Donald Trump's defense team and Judge Aileen Cannon regarding the amount and context of the material to be disclosed to the defense.

The 77-year-old presumptive GOP presidential nominee has pleaded not guilty to charges related to violating the Espionage Act by storing classified documents in various locations within Mar-a-Lago such as the bathroom, ballroom, shower, and other such places.

Internet lambasted Chris Kise for claiming Trump wants 'everything open' in his classified docs case

Internet was baffled by the attorney's claims made on the Fox News show.

One X user remarked, "Kise is so bad at this."

Another user said, "It’s a classified documents case. That makes no sense."

Another user wrote, "Make you wonder if they understand what the word classified means."

One user asserted, "Why yes because that is the point behind classified information."

Another X user quipped, "If he feels that way, he should open all of his law firm’s files to the public."

Finally, this user tweeted, "Seems like keeping classified documents secret is the point."
