PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: In a fiery social media post on Thursday, April 11, former President Donald Trump unleashed a tirade against the Biden administration, accusing them of attempting to intimidate and disrespect Judge Aileen Cannon.

The outburst comes amidst escalating legal disputes between Special Counsel Jack Smith and Judge Cannon, who presides over Trump's case in Florida concerning alleged mishandling of classified documents.

Trump's says Biden admin trying to 'harass' Judge Aileen Cannon

In a statement posted on TruthSocial, Trump lambasted President Joe Biden and his associates.

"Crooked Joe Biden and his crew of Hacks and Thugs, led by Merrick Garland and Deranged Jack Smith, are working overtime to try to illegally intimidate and harass respected Federal Judge Aileen Cannon," Trump wrote in a post to TruthSocial. "They are calling her terrible names, wrongfully threatening her with Impeachment, and disrespecting her, all because they want her to act like the dishonest, politically biased, and conflicted Judges in New York, and not like the fair and impartial Judge that she is."

The former president, who is the presumptive Republican nominee for the 2024 presidential race, reiterated his innocence regarding the charges against him and vehemently denied any wrongdoing.

Trump's accusations stem from recent developments in the case, notably Judge Cannon's request for jury instructions regarding the classification of documents under the Presidential Records Act. She suggested that the jury could consider the documents as Trump's personal items, a proposition vehemently opposed by Smith.

Smith's office issued a stern rebuke against Cannon's order, denouncing it as flawed and unsubstantiated.

"Both scenarios rest on an unstated and fundamentally flawed legal premise—namely, that the Presidential Records Act and in particular its distinction between 'personal' and 'Presidential' records, determines whether a former President is 'authorized,' under the Espionage Act, to possess highly classified documents and store them in an unsecure facility," Smith's office stated.

Drawing an analogy to legendary basketball coach Bobby Knight, Trump accused Smith of attempting to unfairly influence the proceedings, likening it to "playing the refs."

Despite incorrectly attributing the last undefeated college basketball team to Knight, Trump doubled down on his critique of Smith's tactics, alleging a concerted effort to weaponize law enforcement and interfere with the electoral process.

“No matter how hard he tries, Deranged Jack Smith will never be Coach Bobby Knight, a Basketball Legend for all time, who led the last undefeated team in College Basketball,” he wrote.

Trump added in a follow-up post: "Page 2: The Weaponization of Law Enforcement, the Harassment of Fair Judges, and rampant Election Interference cannot be allowed to continue. We have to end the Witch Hunts, win the most important Election in our History on November 5th, and Make America Great Again!"

Legal experts weighed in on the escalating tensions, with some suggesting the possibility of Smith seeking Cannon's recusal from the case. Elie Honig, a legal commentator, deemed such a move as "extraordinarily rare."

"There is a procedure for this, and it can happen sometimes, where prosecutors will ask the judge or will ask an appeals court to remove a federal judge from a case," Honig said. "First of all, it's a pretty precipitous move; second of all, if you lose, you have a kind of awkward scenario where you've asked the judge to be kicked off."

Conversely, Scott Lucas, a professor in international politics, was skeptical about the likelihood of Cannon's recusal.

"I don't think we are going to see a move by the special counsel to try and challenge Judge Cannon on her impartiality because there's a bit of politics involved because she is a Trump appointee," he told Newsweek.

"So the moment you go after her and ask her to recuse, every Trumpist is going to come out and say 'oh this is the special prosecutor trying to politicise this, he's the one who's actually trying to tip the scales of justice by removing a judge from the bench', so highly unlikely Cannon is recused," Lucas added.

Trump blasted for accusing Biden admin of harassment

Social media platforms erupted with reactions following Trump's diatribe against the perceived disrespect towards Judge Cannon.

"This man is off the rails. Embarrassing," one posted on X.

"Trump 'speaks' like a pre-adolescent. A stint in federal prison might do him some good," another wrote.

"Trump is feeling the pressure and venting," someone else added.

"You talking about anyone else calling someone terrible names is absolutely hysterical," a comment read.

"They're calling her terrible names. That's exactly what you do to people. And why are you bringing Bobby Knight into this? You're such a child!" another responded.
