‘Crazy': Trump mocked after he calls hush money case prosecutor Matthew Colangelo one of Biden’s ‘thugs’
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Former President Donald Trump accused Assistant District Attorney Matthew Colangelo, a prosecutor investigating the New York hush money case against him, as one of President Joe Biden's "thugs," New York Post reported.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, March 25, after a hearing in the case, the GOP presumptive nominee lashed out, saying, "Colangelo is a radical left [prosecutor] from the DOJ who was put into the state working for Letitia James and was then put into the District Attorney's office to run the trial against Trump."
"This is all Biden-run things, meaning Biden and his thugs, because I don't know if he knows he's alive. And it's a shame what's happening to our country," he fumed.
On Monday, Judge Juan M Merchan rejected Trump's request to delay the hush-money case and set the criminal trial to begin on April 15.
The trial will go down in history as Trump will become the first ex-president to go on trial. He faces 34 counts for falsifying business records to pay adult film actress Stormy Daniels through his fixer, Michael Cohen, to silence her about a sexual encounter before the 2016 election.

Who is Matthew Colangelo?
Colangelo previously worked as a senior Labor Department official under the Obama administration and later moved to the Department of Justice as acting associate attorney when Biden became president.
He also worked in New York Attorney General Letitia James's office, helping in the civil fraud case against Trump that finally led to the $454 million penalty ruling issued by Judge Arthur Engoron in February.
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, a Democrat, hired Colangelo at the end of 2022 to the team investigating Trump in the hush money case.

Speaking to the reporters after the court hearing, Trump also expressed his fury at the Manhattan District Attorney for filing a criminal case against him.
"You have Mark Pomerantz. He was Hillary Clinton's lawyer or Democratic National Committee's lawyer," the ex-president said, adding, "He [Bragg] walked in and took over the District Attorney's office – nobody's ever seen anything like that – to prosecute Trump. And then they wouldn't do what he wanted to do."
The hush money case is the first of four criminal indictments against Trump to go to trial. He is facing a total of 88 criminal charges, including mishandling of classified documents and attempts to overturn the 2020 election results.
Despite his mounting legal woes, Trump has secured the Republican nomination for a rematch with Biden in November.
