CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: Malia and Sasha Obama stole the spotlight as they made a rare appearance at the Obama Presidential Center opening, with the sisters sharing laughs and a few tears with their parents.

The former first daughters, who now live in Los Angeles, joined their parents on stage for the ceremony, appearing alongside a host of political heavyweights, including Joe and Jill Biden, George W and Laura Bush, and Kamala Harris and Doug Emhoff.

During the ceremony, the duo remained true to their fashion style. Malia, 27, kept her most chic fashion foot forward in a structured gray blazer mini dress, with an edgy, plunging neckline.

The joke drew laughter from Michelle, Malia, and Sasha, while Barack playfully pushed back, with a smile and a shrug.

During the ceremony, the former first lady paid a heartwarming tribute to the pair, acknowledging that the sisters were forced into a life they never chose.

"To our daughters, Malia and Sasha, who will always be my babies. Even though we're no longer playing hide and seek on the South Lawn with Beau or hosting sleepovers in the solarium - I see a lot of sleepover girls here -you both have grown into such brilliant and beautiful young women, making your way out there in the world," Michelle said during her remarks.

"Thank you for bringing so much joy and spirit and energy to a life you had no voice in choosing. And for making us proud every step of the way,” she continued.

Praising Barack's dedication and strength, Michelle went on to say, "Not once did you let it harden you. Instead, you used it to reveal your truest essence, your stubborn optimism and unflinching courage, your dazzling brilliance and unpretentious decency, your ferocious work ethic and absolutely unshakable moral fiber."
