Man scales Mar-a-Lago wall to ‘marry’ Trump’s granddaughter Kai and ‘spread the Gospel’, say cops

PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: A 23-year-old man from Texas is facing trespassing charges after allegedly climbing a wall surrounding Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida with the stated intent to marry the president’s granddaughter Kai and deliver a religious message.
Police say the incident occurred just after midnight on Tuesday, June 3, when Anthony Thomas Reyes reportedly triggered security alarms after scaling the estate’s perimeter wall.
Secret Service agents quickly apprehended Reyes on the premises. No members of the Trump family were present at the resort at the time.

According to the arrest affidavit, Reyes told officers he had broken in to “spread the Gospel” and to “marry” 18-year-old Kai Trump, daughter of Donald Trump Jr and a student-athlete at the University of Miami. The Palm Beach Police Department confirmed that Reyes admitted to his actions during questioning.
Reyes has been charged with misdemeanor trespassing and pleaded not guilty. His bond was set at $50,000, and a judge ordered him to have no contact with any members of the Trump family.
This is not Reyes’ first attempt to enter Mar-a-Lago. Court documents indicate he previously tried to access the resort around New Year’s Eve. He is listed as a cashier and a resident of Irving, Texas.

The Secret Service confirmed the early morning breach, stating, “Shortly after midnight, the individual scaled a perimeter fence and triggered alarms. US Secret Service personnel detained him without incident at the scene.”
A White House official confirmed to The Independent that Donald Trump had been briefed on the situation.
Kai Trump, who recently turned 18, is known for her golfing prowess and is considered one of the top university golf prospects in the country.
The high-profile intrusion comes less than a year after a separate security scare in September 2024, when a man allegedly attempted to assassinate Trump at his West Palm Beach golf course. That case, involving Ryan Routh, is still pending trial.

One user chimed in, “I had to ask her dad's permission, buy an engagement ring, and get down on one knee. If I knew all I had to do was jump a wall I would have spent more time practicing hurdles.”
