WASHINGTON, DC: The Epstein files have created political tension across the country. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (MTG) criticized the Trump administration’s handling of records connected to the late convicted financier Jeffrey Epstein. She even called the controversy the “biggest political miscalculation” of Trump’s career.

Speaking on the Saturday, February 14 episode of the 'Home of the Brave' podcast, Greene accused Trump of fighting “the hardest” against the release of the files. However, Trump has not yet responded to MTG’s statement.

MTG claims Trump personally resisted Epstein files release

Greene claimed Trump personally pushed against releasing the Epstein files and worked harder than anyone to keep them sealed. “That fight to release the Epstein files came directly from President Trump, and I know a lot of people have a hard time with that, but that is the truth.” “He fought the hardest to stop these files from being released,” she said.

Greene claimed Trump signed Congress’s “Epstein Files Transparency Act” only because he was forced to by political pressure. She said the situation quickly turned into a serious political problem for him. “It became a massive political problem, biggest political miscalculation in Donald Trump’s career was calling this a hoax, fighting the release of it and having Mike Johnson, the Speaker, refuse to bring the bill to the floor to the point where Thomas Massie, myself, Nancy Mace and Lauren Boebert actually had to vote with all of the Democrats to get it released,” Greene told host Owen Shroyer.

While serving in Congress, Greene supported a bipartisan effort to make the Epstein files public, led by Representatives Thomas Massie and Ro Khanna. Since leaving Congress in January after her public split with Trump, she has spoken more openly against parts of his policies and has called his Make America Great Again slogan “all a lie."

New Epstein documents reveal ties to Trump confidant

Beyond the podcast comments from Greene, new information about the Epstein files has surfaced. According to CBS News, longtime Trump ally Thomas Barrack stayed in close contact with Epstein for years after Epstein’s 2008 conviction.

The review examined more than 100 text messages and emails included in newly released Justice Department (DOJ) records. The communication reportedly continued while Barrack was helping raise money for Trump’s 2016 campaign. He later led the inaugural committee and became a regular presence around the White House.

There is no evidence showing Barrack was involved in or aware of any criminal activity connected to Epstein. Instead, the messages suggest their relationship was personal and business-related during a time when Epstein was attempting to rebuild his reputation among influential circles.
