ATLANTA, GEORGIA: Following the July 13 assassination attempt on former president Donald Trump, Marjorie Taylor Greene demanded the resignation of Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle.

Marjorie Taylor Greene wrote on X on Monday, July 22, "I’ve never seen a more incompetent woman in my life. Cheatle should have resigned. Instead, she’s covering it all up, refusing to answer questions and hand over information. She may be more than incompetent. She may be complicit."

The other lawmakers who wanted Cheatle to step down are Rep James Comer (R-Ky), Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md), Rep Lauren Boebert (R-Colo), Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla), and Ro Khanna (D-Calif).

Notably, Kimberly Cheatle conceded on Monday that the organization was unable to stop the assassination attempt on former president Donald Trump, as reported by AP.

During testimony before the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, she said, "The Secret Service's solemn mission is to protect our nation's leaders. On July 13, we failed. As director of the United States Secret Service, I take full responsibility for any security lapse."

Moreover, Cheatle called the attack on Trump "the most significant operational failure of the Secret Service in decades." Trump was speaking at a campaign event in Pennsylvania when a bullet grazed his right ear.

She said, "There clearly was a mistake and we will make every effort to make sure that this never happens again."

One person stated, "It honestly doesn't mean much coming from you. I'm not sure what you were expecting to be said while the investigation is still ongoing and you opted for a public hearing."

Another wrote, "You would certainly know from incompetence, congresswoman. So would Trump, apparently."

One individual commented, "Look into a mirror and you’ll see the most incompetent person in the world. A woman that has done ZERO for her district!"

Another added, "The lack of self-awareness here."

One person asked the lawmaker, "Margie… That’s not true. Don’t you look in the mirror every day, cupcake?" while another further added, "She has to step aside. This hearing simply confirms what we all assumed."
