MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN: Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) referred to former President Donald Trump as "the founding father of the America First Movement" and "the leader America deserves" while speaking at the Republican National Convention on Monday, July 15.

The far-right lawmaker was one of the speakers to take the stage on Day One of the Milwaukee event after Trump was declared the official Republican presidential nominee, as per Time Magazine.

Marjorie Taylor Greene began her speech, "Today is a celebration. The American spirit is alive and well, and we have once again nominated for president the founding father of the America First Movement, Donald John Trump."

"America First" has a convoluted past as the America First Committee was founded in 1940 and opposed American involvement in World War II. The Atlantic claims that among its hundreds of thousands of members were known antisemites.

In her address, the congresswoman expressed her condolences to the family of Corey Comperatore, the 50-year-old man who died in the assassination attempt on former President Trump during a Butler, Pennsylvania rally on Saturday.

Greene said, "Corey embodied the spirit of America First. He displayed the ultimate show of love. He shielded his own wife and daughter, sacrificing his own life. We will honor Corey’s memory by building the country he wanted, the country he wanted for his children, and a government worthy of the American people."

She also noted that the assassination attempt was "a somber moment for our nation" and thanked God for protecting the former president.

The staunch Trump ally then moved on to bash Joe Biden's administration, saying, "For far too long, the establishment in Washington has sold us out. They promised unity and delivered division. They promised peace and brought war."

She continued, "The Democrats ripped open our borders and allowed millions of illegal aliens to pour in, driving up the cost of housing and health care while slashing American wages and eliminating jobs ... The Democrats’ economy is of, by, and for illegal aliens."

Internet mocks Marjorie Taylor Greene as she calls Donald Trump 'founding father of America First movement'

As usual, netizens weren't all in on Marjorie Taylor Greene's RNC address.

One wrote, "She’s unglued per usual," and another said, "That lady is obsessed with trump being a founding father... she posted about founding fathers the other day. Can you imagine her as secretary of state???"

"Of course she did, just like she was there helping British troops defend that airport in Revolutionary War," quipped a netizen.

"I really hope her and Bobo are exited from politics. Blind loyalty is not what anyone needs at this point. We need people that hold politicians accountable. SMH," commented an individual, while one more said, "She is under some influence or she wants to be in some department!"
