LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Matty Healy and Gabbriette Bechtel are officially married after exchanging vows in a private outdoor ceremony at Castillo del Lago, Madonna's former estate near the Hollywood sign in Los Angeles, on Saturday, July 18.
The intimate wedding came just two weeks after Healy's ex-girlfriend, Taylor Swift, married NFL star Travis Kelce in front of approximately 1,000 friends and family at New York City's Madison Square Garden on Friday, July 3.
Matty Healy and Gabbriette Bechtel celebrate intimate Los Angeles wedding
Healy and Bechtel exchanged vows in an outdoor ceremony at the Spanish Colonial Revival mansion before sharing a kiss at the altar and posing for photographs. Healy wore a classic black tuxedo, while Bechtel chose a glamorous white gown with a traditional veil, styling her hair half-up and half-down.
"Matty Healy and Gabbriette Bechtel were married yesterday at a private ceremony in Los Angeles, attended by their family and close friends," representatives for the couple told PEOPLE in a statement.
According to reports, guests included Charli XCX and her husband George Daniel, who is also Healy's bandmate in 'The 1975.' The wedding followed bachelor and bachelorette celebrations, with Rolling Stone UK reporting that Healy marked his bachelor party in Malibu, where he performed 'The Sound.'
A fan page also shared a photo of The 1975 alongside members of 'The 9075' dressed in outfits inspired by different eras of Healy's career. Healy wore a ginger wig that appeared to reference his look from the 'Give Yourself a Try' music video.
His mother, Denise Welch, had previously revealed in the podcast 'Loose Women: The Podcast' that the wedding was planned for July and said she was "very excited" for the couple to marry. She had also shared her excitement on the TV show 'Loose Women' in 2024, saying, "I couldn't be more thrilled. We couldn't be happier — she is everything I would want in a daughter-in-law."
How Matty Healy and Gabbriette Bechtel's relationship led to marriage
Bechtel, who professionally goes by Gabbriette, offered her own thoughts on marriage during a Jimmy Choo bridal campaign in February 2026. She advised fellow brides, "This is a celebration, not a performance," and, "Remember, this is about love and looking hot but mainly about love."
She had previously told PEOPLE in July 2025 that planning the wedding would "take a while because I'm bad at planning stuff," though she later joked in the campaign, "Let your fiance think that they're helping. They pick the music, you pick everything else. Democracy!"
The couple first sparked romance rumors in September 2023 after they were spotted kissing in New York City. Less than a year later, they confirmed their engagement after attending Charli XCX's 'Brat' show in Brooklyn on June 11, 2024.
Bechtel shared photos of her black diamond engagement ring with pave diamonds on Instagram Stories, captioning one image, "MARRYING THE 1975 IS VERY BRAT."
In 2019, Charli selected Bechtel to join her band 'Nasty Cherry,' whose formation was documented in the Netflix series 'I'm with the Band: Nasty Cherry.'
Friends had reportedly been trying to introduce them for four years before they finally met. In June 2024, an insider told PEOPLE that the pair "quickly fell in love" and had "a serious and intense relationship from day one," adding, "They're such a cool couple. They like to do things their way."
