Meghan Markle thinks Prince Harry's wish to reconnect with pals Victoria and David Beckham is 'ridiculous'
LONDON, ENGLAND: The once-close bond between Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and Victoria and David Beckham reportedly became strained following the Sussexes' retirement from royal duties.
However, there have been speculations that Harry is trying to get back in touch with David in order to serve as a go-between for him and the other Royal family members, particularly Prince William.
Meanwhile, Meghan thinks it "ridiculous" that Harry wants to get back in touch with Victoria and David, according to a Closer Magazine source.
Prince Harry hopes to reconnect with Beckhams but Meghan Markle prefers 'more powerful people'
Prince Harry, 40, and Meghan Markle, 43, have forged many close ties over the years but have also grown apart from some friends. They used to be close to Victoria and David Beckham, but things have not been going well for them lately.
However, it was previously believed that the Duke of Sussex would be eager to have the Beckhams return to their social circle and reunite with his old friends after spending years in California. Sources claimed Meghan is not as excited about the concept, though, per The Mirror.
Speaking with Closer Magazine, a source revealed, "Meghan feels it's ridiculous to even care what the Beckhams think. Instead, she has her sights set on making friendships with much more powerful people, like Kamala Harris."
Although Victoria and David remain close to William, Harry is allegedly eager to mend his ties with them in order to help him get back together with his estranged brother.
"As far as she’s concerned, it’s beneath them to be begging the Beckhams for approval. But Harry knows how much William values David’s friendship, and his hope is that getting David’s seal of approval could help soften things with his brother," the source added.
Harry and Meghan's friendship with some of their former close acquaintances has soured, even though they established new connections in Hollywood with celebrities like Oprah Winfrey and the Kardashians.
David Beckham remains good friends with Prince William and King Charles
David Beckham has remained good friends with Prince William and his father, King Charles. Even more recently, the former soccer player and William were seen chatting and laughing at a charity function.
William and David were spotted at RAF Northolt on Tuesday, October 1, in West London cracking a private joke during their inspection of two London Air Ambulances that they had helped to fundraise.
The football icon and the Prince of Wales reportedly got back together at Royal Airforce Northolt to mark the end of the 'Up Against Time' campaign, which earned almost $20 million (£16 million) for two new helicopters for the London Air Ambulance.
The encounter took place the day after Harry, who was once very close to the Beckhams, traveled to the UK for the WellChild Awards with his wife Meghan, per The Mirror.
David, 49, and his wife Victoria were among the guests when Harry married Meghan in 2018 at St George's Chapel in Windsor because they were once very close to the prince.
Unbeknownst to many outside their inner circle, the Beckhams have severed their ties to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for even more intriguing reasons.
Ever since the Beckhams appeared to have rejected the Sussexes in favor of William and Kate Middleton, there have been persistent rumors that there is some hope left between the two couples.
The rumors gained more momentum when William and David inspected the brand-new air ambulance helicopter together, a few hours after Harry made the rare visit to the UK.
Victoria Beckham reportedly not a fan of Meghan Markle
Victoria Beckham was never a fan of Meghan Markle, according to an insider who previously told the Daily Mail: "The truth is that Victoria never really liked Meghan much. She was friendly and welcoming to her but is not bothered about staying in touch."
The source added: "Both David and Victoria put great importance on family and would never, ever turn on their relations the way that Harry and Meghan did."
It would seem reasonable that they would join Harry and Meghan's court given that David owns a football team in Miami and the couple have grown more popular in American culture but the Beckhams decided to stick with the Windsors instead.
