Kate Middleton showed signs of ‘inner tension’ during first public outing after chemo, reveals expert
SOUTHPORT, UNITED KINGDOM: Kate Middleton resumed her royal engagements after completing her chemotherapy last month. The Princess of Wales, alongside Prince William, made an unexpected visit to Southport.
They visited the English town to express solidarity with the families impacted by the devastating stabbing incident at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class on July 29. Despite her kind actions for the victims' families, Kate exhibited signs of "inner tension," as observed by a body language expert.
Kate Middleton visits Southport Community Centre
The Prince and Princess of Wales visited the Southport Community Centre on Thursday to meet with the families of Elsie Dot Stancombe, Bebe King, and Alice Dasilva Aguiar, the three young girls who were killed in the stabbing attack.
In light of the solemn occasion, Kate maintained a somber demeanor throughout. Nevertheless, there was a moment when her well-known smile emerged as she shared a laugh with someone present.
Analyzing her behavior, body language expert Judi James informed the Daily Mail, “Kate's visit involved some familiar body language behaviors, both her own and as a couple with William.” She described the initial state of the princess, who was in a “quieter, listening and empathetic mode.” But, soon “became more animated as she talked.”
James noted that Kate was “raising her hands in a series of cupping rituals, sometimes with spiked fingers registering the strength of her emotional input.”
James continued to discuss the royal couple's collective body language, stating, “One very sweet, familiar trait is that of intense mirroring between Kate and William.”
“This has always been their signature look and it is happily as intense as ever,” she added. “There are times they sit looking completely twinned here, heads cocked at the same angle to listen and hands clasped over their knees. Even their outfits are matching.”
Kate Middleton's smile returns amid signs of inner tension
The specialist emphasized that, at a certain moment during the visit, “there is also a moment when that signature 'Kate smile' returns as one of the people they're meeting makes them laugh.”
“It's the same wide, perfect smile we've seen Kate do for years but it's good to see a return of it during one of her first visits since her illness,” James noted, however, that there were several aspects of Kate's behavior that were concerning “signs of what looks like inner tension.”
“When she arrives she clasps her bag in front of her torso with both hands and when she sits she holds one wrist with the other hand in what looks like a very tight clasp,” James spoke of the princess, further commenting, “But she visibly relaxes as the visit goes on until she is standing talking to one of the responders in a more energetic, animated way.”
During the outing, her first public appearance since finishing chemotherapy, Kate chose not to wear her iconic sapphire engagement ring, instead selecting a new piece of jewelry. The mother-of-three wore a slender gold ring, which some believe may be a new "eternity band."
Fans claim Kate Middleton 'looks tired around her eyes'
As soon as the Daily Mail published the news on its platform, fans of Kate Middleton were delighted to see her return to public engagements. A user remarked, "So good to see her back"
Another added, "Welcome back our beautiful Queen"
A commentator wrote, "Her smile is contagious! Glad she can bring some joy and excitement to a community that has had very little to look forward to."
"There is no inner tension. She's just like anyone else after being unwell. She's just getting back to a different normal," one claimed to debunk the claims of the body language expert.
Replying to the above comment, a fan stated, "Exactly. She looks tired around her eyes in one of those pics. Cancer makes no distinction between those having private treatment or NHS."
Other chimed in, "She's been ill will take a while"
