WASHINGTON, DC: Meghan McCain reignited a long-running controversy surrounding the Biden family this week after former First Lady Jill Biden made remarks about Hunter Biden's children that appeared to leave out his daughter, Navy Roberts.

The criticism came on Tuesday, June 2, after Jill Biden spoke about Hunter Biden during an interview and praised his recovery while discussing his family.

Her comments quickly gained attention, with critics arguing that she failed to acknowledge one of Hunter Biden's children.

During her remarks, Jill Biden spoke warmly about her son and his family.

"Hunter is doing so great, and he's sober. He has a beautiful child, I mean, yes, thank you. Who's named Beau. He named his son after Beau, and Beau named his son after Hunter. Just shows the bond," she said.

Shortly afterward, McCain posted a strongly worded response on X.

"One of my most downloaded Citizen McCain episodes is my interview with Hunter's former girlfriend, Lunden Roberts, who is the mother of his beautiful daughter, Navy," McCain wrote.

She then took direct aim at the Biden family.

"The way the Biden family treats both of them is just dastardly - and no amount of media spin will change that."

McCain's comments renewed discussion about the relationship between the Bidens and Navy, an issue that has periodically resurfaced in political and media conversations over the past several years.

Lunden Roberts previously opened up about Navy's connection to the Biden family

The renewed attention also brought fresh focus to comments made by Lunden Roberts during a revealing interview.

Speaking with Piers Morgan on June 6, 2024, Roberts discussed her daughter, Navy, and the challenges surrounding her connection to the Biden family.

One of the most striking revelations from the interview was Roberts' claim that Navy had never met her grandfather, President Joe Biden.

Roberts also spoke about her past relationship with Hunter Biden, explaining that the two had been together for more than a year after meeting in Washington, DC, in 2017.

While discussing Hunter's role in Navy's life, Roberts acknowledged that he had made efforts to communicate with their daughter despite not meeting her in person.

"He's gone above what the timeframe was as far as like what he was supposed to do, he has done that for her which I appreciate tremendously," Roberts said.

At the same time, she hoped that Hunter would continue building a stronger relationship with Navy moving forward.

"He can take accountability and responsibility, and he can be a dad to her," Roberts added.

Questions about the Biden family's relationship with Navy continue

Roberts also addressed the larger family dynamic and the absence of contact between Navy and President Joe Biden, as well as Jill Biden.

The issue gained national attention after criticism emerged over the family's public handling of the situation.

Roberts suggested that Joe Biden may have been waiting for Hunter to establish a stronger relationship with Navy before becoming more directly involved himself.

"I think that Joe has sat back and waited for that to happen for Hunter before he feels comfortable enough to step forward," Roberts said.
