NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Megyn Kelly recently criticized President Joe Biden for calling supporters of former president Donald Trump “garbage,” suggesting that the comment is a sign he is “suffering from dementia.”

In an exclusive interview with the New York Post, the host of SiriusXM’s 'The Megyn Kelly Show' asserted that the 81-year-old president's mental acuity is declining. “I think Joe Biden is suffering from some dementia which has lowered his inhibitions from saying how he actually feels,” she stated.

President Joe Biden sparked outrage when he proclaimed, “The only garbage I see floating out there is [Donald Trump’s] supporters.”

Kelly compared this remark to other infamous Democratic insults aimed at Republican voters, recalling Barack Obama’s “bitter clingers” jab from 2008 and Hillary Clinton’s 2016 description of Trump supporters as a “basket of deplorables.”

She noted, “It was just the latest in a long line of insults that the Democrats have had about Republican voters,” and added, “They’ve been calling Trump a fascist and a Nazi and a white supremacist, and now we’ve devolved into garbage. We’re all garbage — anybody who voted for Donald Trump.”

Biden’s representatives on CNN defended the president, arguing that his remark was due to his stutter and that his reference to “garbage” was directed at comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, who joked about Puerto Rico as “a floating island of garbage” during a Trump rally at Madison Square Garden.

However, Megyn Kelly ridiculed this notion, stating, “I don’t believe for one second that it was a slip of the tongue [or] inadvertent.” She added, “That’s a bridge too far for us. We’re not going to run that kind of cover for him. We all heard what he said.”

Kelly suggested that Biden inadvertently did the Trump campaign a favor by shifting the narrative away from Hinchcliffe’s joke and refocusing attention on his own comment about Trump voters.

“They were saved by Joe Biden,” she remarked. She further emphasized the irony of the situation, stating, “What’s so beautiful about the controversy is these same media outlets and Democrats who spent 48 hours telling us how deeply wrong it is to refer to any group as garbage…now have a very difficult pivot to make.”
