WASHINGTON, DC: Long before Melania Trump became first lady twice she had already envisioned the role for herself.

In a strikingly prescient 1999 interview with ABC, the Slovenian-born model confidently predicted that her then-boyfriend, Donald Trump, would one day lead the United States.

In 1999, a then-26-year-old Melania Trump, who was unmarried at the time, gave an interview to ABC. The conversation was part of an effort to support fundraising for North Shore Animal League America.

Asked whether she saw herself as first lady, Melania, just 26 at the time, didn’t hesitate. Her answer was a direct “yes.” She described Donald Trump as “very smart” and a “great leader” who understood business and could run the country successfully.

Melania also shared her vision for her own role, saying she would embrace a traditional approach, much like Jackie Kennedy and Betty Ford. She mentioned that she would “stand by” and “support” her husband, adding, “I would be very traditional, like Jackie Kennedy and Betty Ford.”

Years later, when Donald Trump first launched his presidential campaign, Melania remained reserved about the possibility of becoming first lady. Speaking to People, she played it safe. “It’s a long road. I take it day by day. My husband has a lot of people cheering for him. We will see.”

Trump, however, had no doubts about her potential. Trump told the publication, “Melania would be an amazing representative for our country. I could see her being very involved in women’s health issues,” adding, “She’s an elegant person with a very big heart. She’s very calm and confident, very warm and very beautiful.”

Melania Trump’s iconic Christian Dior wedding dress, designed by John Galliano, has reportedly surfaced on eBay with a $45,000 price tag, less than half of its original $100,000 value.

The lavish gown, worn by the first lady during her 2005 wedding to Donald Trump, was a custom creation that took 550 hours of handwork to complete. Now, an unnamed private seller claims to have acquired it from Melania herself for $70,000 before making several alterations to the original masterpiece.

According to Page Six, the listing was first discovered by fashion writer Liana Satenstein, who shared the revelation in her Neverworns Substack. A friend, Patricia Torvalds, stumbled across the eBay posting while browsing for vintage Dior pieces.

The seller stated that she purchased the dress from Melania in 2010, ahead of her own wedding, and later made modifications, including adding a new satin layer, embroidering additional details, extending the fabric at the back and adding straps, deviating from the original strapless design.

Despite these changes, the eBay listing still describes it as “Melania Trump wedding dress designed by John Galliano and Dior.”

Melania’s wedding dress was a true showstopper, crafted from 300 feet of white duchesse satin, adorned with crystal embroidery, and featuring a 16-foot veil. The 60-pound gown was handpicked by Melania in Paris, with assistance from Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. She even graced the February 2005 cover of the magazine in that gown soon after the wedding.
