WASHINGTON, DC: Mother’s Day at the White House had all the usual pomp, but first lady Melania Trump brought some unexpected shade this year.

During a tribute to military moms, the famously private first lady peeled back the curtain on her life as a mom to 19-year-old Barron Trump.

Melania called motherhood both “invincible and exposed” and admitted that Barron is giving her “unimaginable, unpredictable concerns.”

Meanwhile, she also threw a playful jab at the men in the room - which obviously included her husband, President Donald Trump.

“All caring mothers understand this rare feeling,” Melania said. “Nothing against fathers, of course, but in my opinion, and I am sure everyone in this room agrees - only a mother can grasp this particular point.”

Melania Trump says Barron's life 'creates unimaginable, unpredictable concerns and thrills'

Melania spoke straight from the heart. Now 55, she shared how motherhood still fascinates her in ways few can understand.

“Motherhood: The life-changing event that makes women invincible and exposed at the same time. It’s remarkable, really, that my son’s life creates unimaginable, unpredictable concerns and thrills for me, even until this day,” she said in her address to the room filled with military moms, Fox News reported.

Barron, the youngest of Trump’s five children (and Melania’s only child), recently started college at NYU and is staying in the Trump Tower home in Manhattan. Despite juggling official duties, Melania made it clear earlier this year that her primary focus remains on her son.

Back in January, she vowed to balance her East Wing responsibilities while still being a full-time mom. Author Mary Jordan recently noted, “Melania is enormously close to Barron.”

Donald Trump keeps it classy in his Mother's Day speech

While Melania was being more candid than usual, her husband played it safe.

During the same event, the president went out of his way to applaud his wife’s parenting skills.

“I especially want to thank one of the best moms that I know that I've ever seen,” Trump said.

“Sometimes she's almost too good.” He added, “She's so good with Barron that he's grown up strong and nice, and he's a good boy, he's a good student, so I want to thank you. You've done a great job, honey.”

And according to The Washington Post’s Mary Jordan, who authored 'The Art of Her Deal: The Untold Story of Melania Trump', Barron may be the glue bringing Melania and Donald closer together these days.

“Barron is critical here too,” Jordan said. “Melania is enormously close to Barron and he is really into the fact that his father is president. Melania and Donald are now spending more time together and appearing as more of a couple than they have in the past. They’ve been in a bunker together and they’ve come out of it closer.”

Melania Trump’s Mother’s Day message for moms

Melania has previously hosted similar gatherings in 2017, 2018, and 2019. “Military mothers and America together have developed an extraordinary parallel journey,” she said on Thursday.

She encouraged mothers to care for themselves as much as their families: “It is their strength that is the bedrock of a brighter future for our children...We empower the next generation to thrive together. Let’s build a legacy of resilience and hope. Your journey matters. Embrace it!”

Melania wrapped up her speech with a series of affirmations. “The sacred strength of women is a profound force with unwavering love and nurturing wisdom. We have the ability to inspire, uplift, and shape the future hearts of our children," she said.

“This power, rooted in compassion and resilience, is a beacon of hope, then leads the way for generations to come,” she continued, adding, “Let us unite to honor the beauty of motherhood, champion the grace of our journey, and inspire those who follow.”

“A mother's love and wisdom empower our children to flourish, instilling in them the courage to reach their full potential. Motherhood. Happy Mother’s Day, everyone," the FLOTUS concluded.
