WASHINGTON, DC: House Speaker Mike Johnson voiced strong support for President Donald Trump’s new ‘America Is Back!’ slogan and hat design at a White House event Tuesday, Feb 3, saying the message reflects the nation’s resurgence under Republican leadership.

The hat, a red cap featuring the phrase, was introduced during a bill-signing ceremony where Trump signed the Consolidated Appropriations Act, ending a partial government shutdown and funding federal agencies through the end of the fiscal year.

Mike Johnson claims slogan is good for country

The hat, bearing the phrase "America Is Back!" sat on the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office during the bill-signing ceremony, as House Speaker Mike Johnson praised the message while standing alongside the president.

"This is good for the country, and America is back," said Johnson, who added that the hat was "appropriate" and "the right slogan” emphasizing the message during comments to reporters after the signing.

He described the slogan as a unifying phrase that captures the GOP’s recent efforts to reopen the government and address key national priorities.

Trump confirmed that the hat was new while speaking with the assembled lawmakers and press.

“It’s a new hat,” he said, visibly holding the cap during the ceremony. "[It] just came out. America is back."

He noted that the slogan does not replace his longtime political brand, saying, “We’ll never forget MAGA,” while explaining that “America Is Back!” fit the moment of legislative achievement.

The event was supposed to be about the big government funding package, but honestly, everyone’s eyes went straight to the hat.

By Tuesday afternoon, you still couldn’t buy the “America Is Back!” hat on the official Trump Store site.

They’re still just selling the usual stuff, like the classic MAGA hats.

Johnson’s remarks came as Republicans sought to champion the passage of the Consolidated Appropriations Act (CAA) after days of uncertainty, with Johnson standing behind Trump as the president signed the bill reopening the government.

The CAA signed Tuesday funds most federal agencies through the end of the fiscal year, though separate negotiations remain ongoing over longer-term funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Trump and Johnson both used the event to underscore recent legislative achievements while also signaling continued collaboration on priorities for the coming months.

The slogan was introduced as Republicans seek to maintain momentum heading into the 2026 midterm elections, with leaders emphasizing unity and progress.
