Millie Bobby Brown accuses reel dad David Harbour of bullying, Netflix launches probe: Report
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘Stranger Things’ star David Harbour is facing serious allegations from his co-star Millie Bobby Brown, who has reportedly filed a formal complaint over "bullying and harassing" behavior on the set of the final season.
According to media reports, the allegations are not of a s*xual nature and have prompted an internal investigation, with filming continuing under the supervision of the actress' personal representative on set.
David Harbour faces Netflix probe after Millie Bobby Brown complaint
Ahead of filming the much-anticipated fifth and final season, 50-year-old David Harbour, who plays Jim Hopper, reportedly became the subject of an internal inquiry following a formal complaint filed by the now 21-year-old Millie Bobby Brown. The actress, who stars as his adoptive daughter Eleven, allegedly accused him of "bullying and harassing" her.
The outcome of the lengthy investigation remains undisclosed, though sources noted the claims did not involve any s*xual misconduct.
According to media reports, the scope of the complaint stated, "Mille Bobby Brown filed a harassment and bullying claim before they started shooting the last season. There were pages and pages of accusations. The investigation went on for months."
Despite Netflix declining to comment on the alleged investigation, insiders suggest the streaming giant is determined to ensure that nothing overshadows the show’s massive finale. One source stated, "It will be a theatrical event. Nothing is going to overshadow this, not even the leading man's private life."
Netflix pushes ahead with ‘Stranger Things’ finale despite controversy
With the first half of the final season set to drop later this month and the second arriving over Christmas, Netflix is banking on the two-part finale to become one of its biggest global events. The streaming giant plans to premiere the final episode simultaneously in cinemas and on Netflix on December 31.
The timing of Harbour's alleged personal issues hitting the headlines is reportedly viewed as unfortunate for the platform. A source said, "It's unfortunate that Mr Harbour's personal woes have hit the headlines at a time when Stranger Things fans were looking forward to a global celebration to mark the end of the groundbreaking show."
Adding to his current troubles, Harbour is also facing reports of infidelity amid his estrangement from wife and British singer-songwriter Lily Allen. Allen’s new album, 'West End Girl,' which has received strong reviews, chronicles the "heartbreak and betrayal" that led to their split last December.
According to media reports, a source close to the couple stated that Allen supported him throughout the Netflix inquiry and that "it was a brutal time." However, the album’s emotional themes have reignited speculation about Harbour’s alleged affairs.
