ATLANTA, GEORGIA: A viral post circulating online claimed that actress Millie Bobby Brown donated $1 million to the LGBTQ+ community, allegedly saying, “I hope they find a cure.” The post spread rapidly, leaving many wondering whether it was true.

Let’s break down the claim and see what actually happened.

Claim: Viral post shows Brown donating $1 million to LGBTQ+ community

A report claiming Millie Bobby Brown donated $1 million to the LGBTQ+ community began circulating on October 27 on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). The post originated from the account @DropPopNet (archived) and included the fabricated quote, “I hope they find a cure."

Soon after, another popular X account, @PeopleOfTheInt, which has more than 897,000 followers, reshared the same claim, amplifying the rumor further.

The claim gained traction as fans eagerly awaited the release of the final season of 'Stranger Things' in November 2025. However, a detailed search found no credible reports or statements confirming that Brown made such a donation or comment.

An allegation of this scale — especially involving a well-known actress — would have been covered widely by major outlets if it were genuine. The post was completely false.

The viral claim originated from Drop Pop, a satirical X account that clearly states in its bio that its content is “satirical and not factual.” The page is known for fabricating celebrity-related posts for engagement.

Drop Pop has previously published fake stories, including one about a supposed feud between singers Lana Del Rey and Lizzo. The claim about Brown was another attempt at viral humor, not a real report.

Millie Bobby Brown quit X after false homophobic meme in 2018

This isn’t the first time Millie Bobby Brown has been targeted by internet misinformation. In 2018, she quit Twitter after being falsely linked to homophobic memes that spread widely online.

The actress has since been vocal about the toll of online rumors and the need to combat bullying and misinformation.

Despite recurring rumors, Brown has focused her energy on real causes. She is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, recognized for advocating gender equality, education, and anti-bullying.

Her beauty brand, Florence by Mills, promotes kindness and confidence — values she actively supports through verified charitable work rather than viral hoaxes.

The $1 million “donation” and fabricated quote were nothing more than a satirical hoax that spiraled into misinformation.
