Mitt Romney calls Kamala Harris 'intelligent and capable' after presidential debate with Donald Trump
WASHINGTON, DC: Senator Mitt Romney (R-Utah) offered praises for Vice President Kamala Harris following her debate performance, describing her as “an intelligent, capable person.”
His comments come after Harris faced off against former president Donald Trump on the debate stage on Tuesday night, Wednesday, September 10.
Romney, who has been a staunch critic of Trump, noted that Harris used the debate as an opportunity to introduce herself to a large audience of American voters who may not have been familiar with her before the event.
Mitt Romney praises Kamala Harris for having a point of view on issues
Mitt Romney addressed reporters on Capitol Hill, reflecting on Kamala Harris’ performance in contrast to Donald Trump’s.
“This was classic President Trump, a performance in the case of Kamala Harris, most people didn’t know her terribly well other than a few clips that were not flattering that you might see on the Internet,” Romney said on MSNBC.
"And people saw, actually, she’s an intelligent, capable person who has a point of view on issues, and she actually demonstrated that time and again," he added, The Hill reported.
Harris’ campaign quickly shared a clip of Romney’s comments on X, writing, “In a shocking moment, Mitt Romney bashed Donald Trump’s debate performance and then proceeded to praise Kamala Harris’ performance. Retweet to make sure all Americans see this.”

Kamala Harris wins widespread praises after the debate
The presidential debate marked the first in-person meeting between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.
During the debate, Harris engaged in spirited exchanges with Trump on important topics like immigration and the economy.
Harris also took strong positions on issues such as abortion and foreign policy. Harris has been earning praises from both the left and the right following her impressive debate performance.
Several GOP leaders have talked well about her, although not all are convinced that they met the concerns of the people.
Meawhile, the debate is having ripples all over with Trump's Truth Social also reporting a $4 billion loss as shares plunged to their lowest since the merger that brought the owner of Truth Social public this spring, CNN reported.
