Mom of three killed in Louisiana shooting thinks kids are alive, has bullet lodged in face
SHREVEPORT, LOUISIANA: Days after a mass shooting in a Shreveport neighborhood, where a deranged Army veteran opened fire, a mother whose three children were killed is still battling physical and mental scars.
The mass shooting occurred on Sunday, April 19, when Shamar Elkins, 31, carried out a shooting rampage across three homes in Shreveport, killing eight children, including seven of his own. The initial investigation found a domestic dispute at the heart of the extreme violence.
Mother suffers memory loss after Shreveport shooting
The mother of three children killed by Elkins is reportedly facing memory loss and often forgets that her children have been killed.
“One day, she’ll remember they’re dead. I heard yesterday she woke up and was like, ‘I got to get my kids ready for school.’ She’ll lose memory of what happened,” Christina’s cousin said.
“One day, she’ll know, and the next day, she’s thinking her kids is still there.” Christina was among two women who were shot but survived the extreme violence.
Shamar Elkins’ girlfriend injured, bullet lodged in face
The mother of three children, along with five others, still has a bullet lodged in her face and is reportedly suffering from PTSD and memory issues, as she often thinks that her kids are alive.
A cousin of Christina Snow, Shamar Elkins’s girlfriend, who was shot in the face early Sunday, April 19, revealed that she is having memory issues and sometimes forgets that her children have died.
Among the eight children Elkins killed, he shared three with his girlfriend, Christina. Christina’s cousin, Jamarckus Snow, told NBC News on Tuesday, April 21, that she was shot in the face during the mass shooting.
The three children have been identified as Braylon Snow, 5, Khedarrion Snow, 6, and Sariahh Snow, 11, who were killed in their home by their father.
Christina was shot through the nose, and a bullet is still lodged there. Doctors are not ready to take the risk of surgery.
Louisiana mass shooting leaves eight children dead
A 31-year-old Army veteran went on a shooting rampage, attacking his own family members. The horrific incident resulted in the deaths of eight children. Seven were Elkins’ own, and the eighth child was Mar’Kaydon Pugh, 10, the son of his wife’s sister, who was staying at their house.
The two women, Elkins’ wife and girlfriend, who were also shot, suffered critical injuries and are still admitted to the hospital. The accused was later chased by police and died in a shootout after the pursuit.
