SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA: Rep Nancy Pelosi, 84, filed a statement of candidacy with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) on Thursday, November 14, to run for another term in Congress for the 2026 midterm elections.

The filing, known as FEC Form 2, is needed for any individual who is a candidate for federal office. An individual is considered a candidate by the FEC if they raise or spend over $5,000, according to CBS Austin.

The FORM 2 instructions read, "The candidate is personally responsible for the timely and complete filing of this Statement and for the accuracy of any information contained in it."

Moreover, Pelosi's filing lists 'House of Representatives' under office sought and 'California-11' under state and district.

However, Pelosi’s office representative denied that the filing was indicated toward a reelection bid, according to The National News Desk (TNND), and claimed it was only intended to report campaign fundraising, per the outlet.

They declined to comment when asked whether the former House speaker planned to run for reelection.

Earlier, Pelosi declined a question by the New York Times when asked if this would be her last term and replied, "I'm not here to talk about that."

She continued, "I'm here to fight the fight so that we win the election. I must have thought I've had the last term over and over again, but as fate would have it, the mission called."

Pelosi blames Joe Biden for Kamala Harris' failure in Presidential election

Nancy Pelosi blamed President Joe Biden for Democratic nominee Kamala Harris' failure in the 2024 Presidential election and added that his late decision to exit the race didn’t give Democrats enough time to organize an "open primary."

Interestingly, Pelosi is rumored to have played a role in his exit, though she maintains the decision was Biden’s alone.

Pelosi said, "The anticipation was that, if the president were to step aside, that there would be an open primary. Because the president endorsed Kamala Harris immediately, that really made it almost impossible to have a primary at that time. Had it been much earlier, it would have been different."

Pelosi, a prominent opponent of President-elect Donald Trump, has repeatedly disputed with him during his first term in office. Trump also renewed their feud this campaign season by personally attacking her.

Trump said, "She’s an evil, sick, crazy it starts with a B, but I won’t say it. I want to say it."
