WASHINGTON, DC: The FBI released new footage on Friday, August 12, showing the suspected gunman in Charlie Kirk’s death leaping from a college rooftop and fleeing into a wooded area after the fatal shooting at Utah Valley University.

Authorities described the attack as “targeted” and said the suspect remains at large.

FBI releases suspect description in Charlie Kirk shooting

According to the FBI, the video captured the suspect running across the roof, dropping over the edge, and disappearing into a wooded area moments after firing a single bullet that pierced Kirk’s neck.

“Around 12 pm Mountain Time on September 10, 2025, the subject climbed up to a rooftop; after he shot and killed Charlie Kirk, he jumped off and ran away. He left a gun and ammunition in a wooded area near the university,” the agency said in a statement.

The FBI added, “Trace evidence collected from the rooftop scene included shoe impressions, a forearm imprint, and a palm print. Anyone with information in this case should call the FBI at 1-800-FBI or visit fbi.gov/utahvalleyshooting.”

In the video, the individual is seen wearing a long-sleeve black shirt, a hat, sunglasses and a backpack. At one point, the figure appears to limp before speeding up again. Authorities released still images showing the suspect in a black baseball cap, dark sunglasses, and what appeared to be jeans, with a long-sleeved top emblazoned with a design that included an American flag.

Authorities announce reward offer

Another newly released security camera footage from a nearby homeowner shows the alleged Charlie Kirk assassin just minutes before the fatal shooting at Utah Valley University. In the clip, the suspect can be seen walking with a noticeable limp, though the reason remains unclear.

Investigators have not confirmed whether the limp was due to an injury or a deliberate attempt to conceal a firearm. Still, the footage has become a key part of the ongoing manhunt.

A reward of up to $100,000 has been posted for information leading to his capture.

Charlie Kirk, 31, a prominent conservative activist who galvanized youth support for President Donald Trump, was shot while addressing a large crowd at Utah Valley University on Wednesday, August 10. Authorities confirmed Thursday, August 11, that the gunman is still at large. “Multiple leads are currently being investigated, but no suspect is in custody,” Utah law enforcement officials posted.

“We're doing everything we can to find him, and we're not sure how far he has gone yet,” FBI Special Agent Robert Bohls said earlier this week.
