Newsom fires back at Joe Rogan's 'not a real human' claim with a public dare
SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA: California Governor Gavin Newsom, on Thursday, April 30, threw down a direct challenge to Joe Rogan, accusing the podcast giant of dodging a face-to-face confrontation.
The governor’s fiery response came after Rogan criticized his credibility, but instead of backing down, Newsom escalated the clash with sharp insults and a public dare.
The exchange has quickly turned into a high-profile standoff, with Newsom leading the charge and putting Rogan on the defensive.
JOE "LITTLE GUY" ROGAN IS TOO CHICKEN TO HAVE ME ON HIS FAILING PODCAST BECAUSE HE KNOW I'D CRUSH HIM, SO HE TAKES CHEAP SHOTS FROM THE PEANUT GALLERY AS HE GETS RELEGATED TO IRRELEVANCY. ALL TALK, NO ACTION. I'M READY WHEN YOU ARE, "LITTLE GUY." OR KEEP HIDING!!!! — Governor GCN https://t.co/5JtafE9zE6

Gavin Newsom issues blunt challenge
Newsom made his position unmistakably clear in a scathing public response, accusing Rogan of being unwilling to engage directly despite his repeated criticism.
“JOE ‘LITTLE GUY’ ROGAN IS TOO CHICKEN TO HAVE ME ON HIS FAILING PODCAST,” Newsom wrote, claiming the host avoids inviting him because “he knows I’d crush him.”
He continued the attack with a pointed dare: “ALL TALK, NO ACTION. I’M READY WHEN YOU ARE OR KEEP HIDING!!!!”

The tone signaled a deliberate escalation. Rather than deflecting Rogan’s remarks, Newsom leaned into confrontation, portraying the podcaster as someone who criticizes from a distance but won’t risk a real-time exchange.
Joe Rogan's scathing remarks against Gavin Newsom
The governor’s remarks came after Rogan tore into him on 'The Joe Rogan Experience', where he questioned Newsom’s authenticity and political image.
“Nobody wants President Newsom, that guy’s a con man,” Rogan said, adding that “nobody believes in the guy” and labeling him a “stone-cold, narrative-driven politician.”
Rogan also argued that Newsom lacks the kind of perceived authenticity seen in figures like Donald Trump and Robert F Kennedy Jr, saying voters don’t see him as a “real human.”
“Everything he did in California, from trying to mandate vaccines for kids when it was totally unnecessary to being caught out in public without a mask and lying about the fact that he was outdoors. All of it. It’s just nobody believes in the guy. With Newsom, you get like this construct, this cardboard cutout of a person”, Rogan claimed.
History of friction between Gavin Newsom and Joe Rogan
The friction between the two is not new.
Rogan has long been critical of Newsom’s leadership, particularly after leaving California in 2020 and citing dissatisfaction with state policies, including pandemic restrictions and taxation.
Earlier, Gavin Newsom intensified his feud with Joe Rogan during an appearance on 'Higher Learning' in 2025, delivering a blunt, profanity-filled challenge.
Frustrated over repeated criticism, Newsom called Rogan a “bulls**t artist” and questioned why he hadn’t been invited on the podcast.

“Joe, why won’t you have me on the show?” he asked, accusing Rogan of creating a “one-way” platform where guests “attack and bash” him without pushback.
“He won’t have me on the show. Full stop. He should have me on the show,” the California governor added. Newsom made clear he isn’t backing down, insisting he’s ready for a direct confrontation.
