An X (formerly Twitter) user, @JoshHall2024, shared a post alleging that the suspect Cole Tomas Allen had prior roles connected to prominent California Democratic politicians.
The post claimed that Allen had “deep personal and financial ties” to figures including California Governor Newsom, former House Speaker Pelosi, former Vice President Harris, and Senator Schiff. It further alleged that he had worked as a staffer on the Newsom for Governor campaign and later served in his administration.
The user wrote, "He was reportedly a top staffer for the Newsom For Governor campaign who went on to serve in a leadership position in Newsom's administration and previously worked as a HIGH-RANKING DNC STAFFER who played a key role in the US Senate campaigns of Kamala Harris and Adam Schiff in The Golden State and was at one point an advisor to DISGRACED former US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi who is said to have played A CENTRAL ROLE in helping her put together the first impeachment of President Trump in 2019."
The post concluded by speculating that the situation indicated “far more to the story” than reported in mainstream media and called for investigations into the named political figures, framing the incident as a possible coordinated plot.
"In other words, there appears to be FAR MORE to this story than we are hearing in The Lamestream media and there is growing speculation within FBI circles that we could be dealing with A DEMOCRAT ASSASSINATION PLOT on President Trump. BRING THESE 4 TRAITORS IN FOR QUESTIONING NOW... WE DEMAND ANSWERS!" it said.
Fact Check: The claims linking Cole Tomas Allen to top Democrats are false
The main claims in Joshua Hall’s X post about Cole Tomas Allen, the 31-year-old suspect in the April 25, 2026, White House Correspondents’ Dinner incident, are mostly unverified or false.
Several major news outlets describe Allen as a 31-year-old from California. Reports say he has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Caltech and a master’s in computer science from California State University. He also worked part-time as a tutor at C2 Education in Torrance and was named “Teacher of the Month” in December 2024.
His LinkedIn profile described him as a mechanical engineer and computer scientist by education, an independent game developer by experience, and a teacher. Reports also say he had no known criminal record and was not previously on law enforcement’s radar. He legally owned firearms, including a shotgun bought in 2025 and a pistol in 2023, and visited shooting ranges.
Claims that he worked as a “Newsom campaign staffer” or held roles in the California state administration are not supported by any credible evidence. No reporting links him to Newsom’s campaign or government offices. His confirmed work history appears limited to tutoring, engineering-related work, and game development, with some profiles mentioning a possible NASA internship.
Claims that he was a “DNC operative” or worked on Harris or Schiff campaigns are also false or unsupported. Records show only a small political donation ($25 in 2024) linked to a Harris-related PAC, with no evidence of any staff, volunteer, or official campaign role. There is no evidence at all that he had any professional or advisory connection to Pelosi.
