NHL reporter Jessi Pierce shared photos of her children a day before house fire killed all of them
WHITE BEAR LAKE, MINNESOTA: NHL reporter Jessi Pierce who lost her life in a house fire alongside her three children had posted beautiful pictures of her family outing just a day before the tragedy.
The 37-year-old’s body was found alongside her children inside a home located on the 2100 block of Richard Avenue of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, in the early morning hours of Saturday, March 21. One of her neighbors Julie Andrus recalled the fire as “a tornado of smoke.”
The cause of the fire is under investigation at the time of writing.

Pierce, who worked for NHL.com covering the Minnesota Wild, was the mother of Hudson, Cayden and Avery. The photos shared on X revealed that she went to the Cup and Cone, a family-owned ice cream stand, for dessert on Friday, just a day before the deadly fire claimed their lives.
One of the pictures showed all of her children happy and smiling as they enjoyed their sprinkle-laden ice cream.
Another photo showed one of Pierce’s sons eating a sub sandwich. She captioned the post as “bag(s) secured.”

Pierce’s death was confirmed by the National Hockey League (NHL) in a statement that read, “The entire National Hockey League family sends our prayers and deepest condolences to the Pierce family on the passing of Jessi Pierce and her three young children.”
“Jessi loved our game and was a valued member of the NHL.com team for a decade. We will miss her terribly,” the statement added.

Michael Russo, who covers the Wild for The Athletic, paid tribute to Pierce in a X post. Describing her as “the most vibrant person – the life of the party,” he wrote that Pierce always brought “a passion to every article and podcast and interview she did.”

The reporter, who co-hosted 'Bardown Beauties' podcast, was also remembered as someone who “had a way of brightening everyone’s day with her upbeat, bubbly personality. I have literally NEVER met anybody that had a way of being EVERYBODY’s friend.”
“From a [Minnesota Wild] practice in the morning to enjoying ice cream with her kids in the afternoon, if there is any solace in this tragedy, it’s that Jessi’s last day was spent doing the things she loved most—covering hockey and being a mom,” Russo added.
In his tribute, Russo also mentioned Pierce’s husband Mike who’s suffered “unimaginable loss” as he noted, “Life can be unbearably unfair sometimes, and it’s impossible to make sense of this tragedy.”
