WASHINGTON, DC: Independent journalist and YouTuber Nick Shirley slammed Rep Ilhan Omar on Fox News’ ‘The Big Weekend Show,’ mocking her claim that a $30 million increase in her net worth was a simple mistake.
Shirley expressed deep skepticism over the filing and labeled the Minnesota Democrat the "queen of the fraud," stating, nobody "put two extra zeros as an error," when filing any report.
Nick Shirley calls Omar 'queen of fraud’ over $30M error
Shirley questioned how a multi-million dollar discrepancy could be brushed off as a simple oversight, suggesting the scale of the error is far too large to be accidental.
"Well, it's a bit suspicious to have your net worth go by millions, and then just recently say that it's an error. I mean, I don't think I've ever put two extra zeros as an error when I file any report," Shirley remarked.
The journalist also attacked Omar’s overall credibility, claiming that she is well-known for these types of issues.
He expressed a total lack of respect for the congresswoman, linking the current filing error to his broader opinion of her actions.
"So, Ilhan Omar, we know who she is. We know that she's, like, the king, the queen of the fraud, actually. And, so Ilhan Omar, no respect to her whatsoever," Shirley stated.
Background of Omar's accounting revision
Rep Ilhan Omar is denying millionaire status after a massive revision to her financial disclosures, which was recently reviewed and reported by 'The Wall Street Journal.'
While earlier filings listed assets between $6 million and $30 million, the amended version reflects a staggering shift, listing holdings at just $18,044 to $95,000.
Jacklyn Rogers, a spokeswoman for Omar, defended the change, stating, "The amended disclosure confirms what we've said all along: The congresswoman is not a millionaire."
Her legal team further explained the mistake to the Office of Congressional Conduct, writing, "As the busiest of people, it is very common for members and their spouses to rely on learned professionals like accountants to make calculations and determinations."
However, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer remains skeptical, noting that her husband’s firm, Rose Lake Capital, was previously valued at $1,000 but unexplainably surged to $25 million in the initial 2024 report.
Comer has openly questioned the legitimacy of such growth, stating, "There are a lot of questions as to how her husband accumulated so much wealth over the past two years. It's not possible."
