Nicole Kidman shares rare childhood photos of daughter Sunday Rose to celebrate her 18th birthday
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Actress Nicole Kidman celebrated her daughter Sunday Rose's 18th birthday on Tuesday, July 7, by sharing a heartfelt Instagram tribute featuring rare childhood photos and a loving message.
Kidman also shared a heartfelt message for her eldest daughter, whom she shares with ex-husband Keith Urban. The birthday celebration came just a day after Rose returned to the runway at Paris Fashion Week, continuing to build her modeling career.
Nicole Kidman celebrates Sunday Rose's 18th birthday
To celebrate Sunday Rose's 18th birthday, Kidman shared two childhood photos on Instagram. One throwback image showed the actress holding her daughter, who appeared to be a toddler, in her arms. Another captured Sunday Rose walking away from the camera wearing angel wings, which was also referenced in the caption.
“Happy 18th my angel, you couldn’t be more loved,” the Practical Magic actress wrote alongside the post, adding a heart emoji and tagging her daughter's Instagram account. In addition to Rose, Kidman and Urban share daughter Faith Margaret.
She filed for divorce from the country star after 19 years of marriage in September 2025, and they finalized their divorce in January.
Kidman is also the mother of daughter Bella and son Connor, whom she shares with ex-husband Tom Cruise. Just one day before turning 18, Sunday Rose walked in Dior's show at Paris Fashion Week for the second consecutive year.
“Dior couture round 2,” she wrote alongside photos from the show on Monday, July 6. She first made her runway debut during Miu Miu's Spring/Summer 2025 show in Paris in October 2024 and has since become a regular presence at Fashion Week.
Earlier this year, she also made headlines by attending the Met Gala alongside her mother, who served as one of the event's co-chairs. As she was 17 at the time, her appearance with her mother seemingly bent the event's age-limit rules.
Sunday Rose opens up about modeling journey
A few months before her Met Gala appearance, Sunday Rose spoke to Elle Australia for the magazine's March issue about what inspired her to pursue modeling.
She revealed that accompanying her mother to photo shoots as a child sparked her interest in both modeling and the entertainment industry.
“I definitely gained a lot of interest from those experiences and especially being privileged enough to experience them at a young age,” the now-18-year-old said. She also described Kidman as “someone who has always been so creative and my biggest inspiration in life,” adding, “She’s a key part of everything I do.”
In a 2025 video interview with Allure, Kidman looked back at her appearance in the 1990 film 'Days of Thunder,' where she wore her natural curls.
“Why did I straighten my hair? I love my hair there. That is my natural hair," she said, adding, “Isn't that crazy? So, little girls out there, embrace the curl. Do not follow in my steps and straighten your hair.”
She continued, “I look like my daughters. Well, that makes sense. There's certain [products] you can get that when you blow dry and scrunch your hair, the curl comes back in abundance. I can do that to my hair still, but it needs to be kind of humid and I need to use the right product. It was very humid down there [in Daytona, where the movie was filmed]. Thus, I have very wild curly hair.”
Speaking to Elle in 2024 about raising her daughters, she reflected on parenting teenage girls, “I love teenage girls, I just find them exquisite. I marvel at that age group and what they’re dealing with, but also their ability to handle so much.”
