BEVERLY HILLS, CALIFORNIA: At the 83rd Golden Globe Awards held on Monday, January 11, comedian Nikki Glaser returned for her second consecutive year as host, delivering a humorous and memorable opening monologue at the Beverly Hilton.
The night featured laughter and surprise as Glaser mixed admiration with sharp humor, poking fun at some of Hollywood’s biggest names. Among her targets was actor Leonardo DiCaprio, whose dating history became a centerpiece of her roast.
Nikki Glaser roasts Leonardo DiCaprio on his dating life
One of the most talked‑about moments of Glaser’s opening monologue came when she roasted DiCaprio for his well‑known pattern of dating younger women. She described her joke as “low‑hanging fruit,” but noted she felt compelled to address it.
She first applauded DiCaprio’s career, highlighting his long list of achievements by saying, “What a career you’ve had. I mean, countless iconic performances. You’ve worked with every great director. You’ve won three Golden Globes, an Oscar.”
She then followed the praise with a sharp punchline, adding, “And the most impressive thing is that you were able to accomplish all of that before your girlfriend turned 30.”
The 51‑year‑old star, nominated for his performance in 'One Battle After Another', reacted laughing and nodding in agreement, giving Glaser a thumbs‑up from his table in the audience.
Glaser followed up the roast with a lighthearted apology, saying, “Leo, I’m sorry I made that joke, it’s cheap, I tried not to,” but added that there was “nothing else” to say about him because she couldn’t find other personal details.

Glaser continued the bit by urging him to be more forthcoming, saying, “Like open up. Seriously, the most in-depth interview you’ve ever given was in Teen Week magazine in 1991. Is your favorite food still pasta, pasta and more pasta?”
DiCaprio nodded in agreement, saying, "Yes, yes it is." Although he had recently been vacationing in St Barts with Vittoria Ceretti, his 27-year-old girlfriend was notably absent from the evening's event.
DiCaprio was seen sitting next to actor Sean Penn at the event, accompanied by other co-stars from the film. The film led the Golden Globe nominations with a total of nine nods, including Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy.
His co-stars Chase Infiniti, Penn, Benicio Del Toro, and Teyana Taylor were also recognized, with Taylor winning the award for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture.
When asked about Taylor calling him "Pops," DiCaprio responded, "Love it. Love it. Whatever she wants to call me."
