Biden shredded for saying Republicans are making a 'big mistake' by not approving Ukraine aid

WASHINGTON, DC: President Joe Biden expressed his hope that the passing of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny will prompt Republicans to take action, criticizing them on Monday, February 19, for not authorizing greater aid for Ukraine.

Notably, the $95 billion assistance plan that the Senate passed includes funding for Ukraine, but Speaker of the House Mike Johnson is requesting a meeting with Biden and won't allow it to be put to a vote. 

After spending the weekend in Delaware, the president responded, "Sure, I'd be happy to meet with him, if he has anything to say."

Joe Biden believes House Republicans are making a 'big mistake'

One of President Vladimir Putin's main detractors, Alexei Navalny, passed away in a Russian jail in recent days, adding to the gravity of the situation. Reporters questioned Biden on whether Republicans would be held accountable for their actions if the package was not passed.

"I wouldn't use that term, but they're making a big mistake by not responding. The way they're walking away from the threat of Russia, the way they're walking away from NATO. The way they're walking away from meeting our obligations. It's just shocking...I've never seen anything like it," he said.

Last week, former US president Donald Trump made comments that infuriated and alarmed US allies by implying that he would not stand up for NATO countries that failed to fulfill their budgetary obligations. He also implied that he would support assaults against them.

Finally responding to Alexei Navalny's passing on Monday, February 19, Trump made a comparison between himself and the Russian dissident.

Trump posted on his Truth Social platform, "The sudden death of Alexei Navalny has made me more and more aware of what is happening in our country. It is a slow, steady progression, with crooked, radical left politicians, prosecutors, and judges leading us down a path to destruction."

In response to Navalny's passing, Biden also stated that he was thinking about putting more sanctions on Russia. He said, "We already have sanctions, but we are considering additional sanctions, yes."

Republicans often contend that further money shouldn't be sent since the war in Ukraine is unwinnable. Sen. Ron Johnson, a Republican, called Vladimir Putin "evil" before last week's Senate vote before declaring, "Vladimir Putin will not lose this war."

However, Ukraine is still pleading for further assistance.

Many people on the internet seemed to differ from Joe Biden's statement regarding House Republicans making a 'big mistake' by not approving more Ukraine aid. A user posted on X, "Peoples Choice; No funding without closing the border, and letting ICE deport the criminals!"

Another person stated, "He is nervous because the people recognize the similarities of what happened to Navalny and what is happening to Donald J. Trump, the most popular presidential candidate in the United States."

While one said, "Biden is out to lunch. Ukraine is dominating the war from every video I've seen online," another user mentioned, "Biden needs to secure the US border and start deporting people. Screw all foreign aid until politicians put America first."
