NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, the man behind the first felony conviction against Donald Trump, claimed the former president should continue to be subjected to a gag order to prevent him from making "inflammatory public attacks" against prosecutors and jurors.

The Democrat detailed a wave of threats against his family and his employees this year in response to the hush money criminal case brought against the 45th president, according to NBC News.

Trump became the first former president to be convicted in a criminal case on May 30 after he was found guilty in all 34 counts linked to a hush-money scheme. The sentencing is scheduled for July 11, less than a week before the Republican National Convention.

New filing shows spike in threats against Alvin Bragg and his family

A recent filing from the Manhattan DA's team signed by Assistant District Attorney Matthew Colangelo contained affidavits from New York Police Department Sergeant Nicholas Pistilli. According to the affidavit, NYPD's Threat Assessment & Protection Unit recorded 61 threats this year against Bragg, his family, and employees, which spiked in the past three months.

Some threats read, "we will kill you all," "you are dead," "Your life is done," and "RIP." In addition, there was "a post showing sniper shots on people involved in this case or a family member of such a person, and a post disclosing the home address of a DA Office employee."

Pistilli wrote that on April 15, there were bomb threats targeting the residences of two people connected to this case.

Bragg pointed out Trump could not be stopped from "broadly criticizing the verdict, the criminal proceeding, the District Attorney, this court and more — and indeed, defendant has engaged in a flood of such criticisms both during the trial and after the guilty verdict."

He further rebuked the former president's motion to lift the gag order, arguing it included "a number of categorically false accusations" like the DA conspiring with others to "restrict the defendant's speech at an upcoming presidential debate." The prosecutors deemed the accusations "a lie" with "no factual basis."

The prosecutors added that the real estate mogul's "falsehoods" were examples of his "disrespect for the rule of law and the impartial administration of justice."

Braggs office asserted that a gag order against Trump concerning attorneys, DA staff, and family members should not be terminated but did not restrict the ex-president from speaking about witnesses in the hush money trial.

Donald Trump and MAGA blamed for threats against Alvin Bragg

Outraged at the wave of threats against Bragg and other prosecutors in the hush money case, netizens condemned Trump's MAGA supporters.

"MAGA Thuggery. They lose to the facts and all they have as an answer is threats and\or violence," a user wrote on Facebook.

Another commented, "It’s funny that trump supporters, followers, fans, worshippers are mad at the judge are mad at the DA mad at the jury mad at everyone except the one person who they should be actually upset with, trump himself, the person who always said he has proof of his innocence. That he will take the stand and prove his innocence…..but when the time came, he did nothing. Didn’t show his evidence or take the stand."

A third user added, "This is how Republicans and their extreme MAGA cultists react to loss. Disgraceful."

A fourth response read, "The MAGATS answered his call of violence on the US Capitol. What makes you think they wouldn't answer the call of violence in any of his cases where he's been convicted."

"MAGA response to not getting their fanaticism satisfied," someone else wrote on X.

An individual remarked, "Seriously??? these thugs are using intimidation against judges, etc. because they don’t believe in following the law. Trump was convicted and he should be punished."

"Trump is responsible. Sentence him accordingly," another user chimed in. Meanwhile, a remark read, "Don't ever believe THE FELON is a law & order guy! Quite the opposite."
