WASHINGTON, DC: Conservative commentator Megyn Kelly mocked the diplomacy skills of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, saying that he should have appeared more grateful during his meeting with President Donald Trump in the White House on Friday, February 28, reported the Irish Star.

The two leaders clashed publicly during the televised meeting in the Oval Office. Vice President JD Vance teamed up with Trump in accusing Zelensky of being "disrespectful" to them and the United States. Trump even warned Zelensky at one point, "You're gambling with millions of people. You're gambling with World War III."

Zelensky was in the United States to seek further assistance from the US in its ongoing war with Russia in exchange for signing a minerals deal. The deal has been reportedly put on ice, as Zelensky was made to leave the White House even without participating in a press conference after the meeting.

Megyn Kelly's take on Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky's meeting

On the Saturday episode of 'The Megyn Kelly Show,' the 54-year-old former Fox News anchor sided with Trump and criticized Volodymyr Zelensky's demeanor at the Oval Office.

"When I look at that, I'm like, why would you do anything other than being magnanimous and, frankly, like, suck up to President Trump who's got the deepest pockets of anybody who's helped him and could help him and is very interested in striking a deal to wrap this thing up," observed Kelly.

She blamed Zelensky for putting the mineral deal proposed by Trump on ice, saying, "Now, whether he likes the terms or not, that can all be negotiated. But why put him in an angry mood while you're in the Oval?"

Kelly noted that the minerals deal was important as Trump wanted it as a security guarantee. "If we're over there, our economic interests are over there, mining these minerals, Putin is less likely to invade again or do anything to upset Ukraine."

"Zelensky comes to the Oval and apparently uses it as an opportunity to tell Trump once again he can't trust Putin," she added. "I mean, this is just dumb. This is dumb diplomacy on his part."

Internet disagrees with Megyn Kelly

Netizens on Facebook disagreed with Megyn Kelly's claim that Zelensky was to blame for the breakdown of the Ukraine-US minerals deal. The following examples demonstrate their takes.

"Don't blame Zelensky. Trump is in Putin's back pocket," wrote a person.

"She has no idea, she doesn’t ever deal with reality," shared another.

"Zelensky stood up for his country. Vance sits there never been to Ukraine ... knows nothing," noted a third.

"Shame on you, Megyn Kelly," slammed a fourth.

"Trump has Putin in one ear and Musk in the other ear. Their only goal is land and minerals. And Trump is their puppet, not a dealmaker," jibed a fifth.

"Trump as the president sided with unknown enemy Russia. How can you think that any good would come of Trump and his deals?" asked another.
