WASHINGTON, DC: As Americans head to polling booths to cast their votes in midterm elections, President Donald Trump, in an early morning interview, touted achievements from the first half of his second term.

While voting hours vary from state to state, polling places opened as early as 5.30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 3, and will close in phases throughout the day. The last polling places in Alaska's Aleutian Islands are scheduled to close at 1 a.m. on November 4.

Trump lists achievements of first 2 years as midterm voting begins

In a telephonic interview with Fox and Friends on November 3, President Donald Trump listed what he described as his administration's achievements over the first two years of his second term.

From border security to economic performance and America's global standing, Trump claimed that conditions had improved because of his efforts and policies.

President Trump drew a contrast between his border policies and those of Democrats as voters headed to the polls to decide who would control Congress.

The president claimed that border states used to be a “criminal mess,” but everything is perfect due to his constant crackdown on illegal immigrants and border security policies.

"If you look at Texas, if you look at these states, any of the border states... they were a criminal mess. And now they're perfect,” Trump told the host.

Trump pointed out that due to ICE arrests, deportation and the end of catch-and-release of illegal immigrants, America witnessed its first negative net migration.

President Trump also claimed that the crime rate had fallen to its lowest level in 125 years.

FBI Director Kash Patel has claimed that crime rates in the United States have fallen to historic lows.

In mid-August, Patel cited Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) statistics showing that the national murder rate had fallen to a 20-year low, alongside the largest annual decline in violent crime in modern American history.

Trump also highlighted what he described as gains for Americans, including the elimination of taxes on tips, overtime and Social Security, as well as the release of American hostages, including Stephen Hubbard.

On the economic front, he pointed to continued growth in manufacturing, more than one million private-sector jobs created and large oil shipments from Venezuela that he said could help lower energy prices.

He also highlighted fraud investigations that uncovered hundreds of billions of dollars in improper payments.

The president also mentioned a Navy blockade of Iran and claimed that the United States had total control of the Strait of Hormuz.

“Everything is going good, everybody respects us again,” Trump added at one point during the interview.

The first polling station will close at 6 p.m. on Tuesday in parts of Indiana and Kentucky, with the first results expected to emerge shortly afterward. However, the national picture is unlikely to become clear immediately, as polling places across the country will close at different times. The final polling places in Alaska's Aleutian Islands will close at 1 a.m. on Wednesday, November 4.
