Cause of death marked as 'drowning'
In an inquest heard on November 29 of the post-mortem examinations, the provisional cause of death was marked as "drowning," reported BBC.
Senior coroner for north-west Wales, Kate Robertson, said: "All four were traveling in a motor vehicle along the A4085 when the vehicle left the road, leading to their deaths."
The coroner said the investigation was "ongoing."
"Only when it's complete will a full inquest take place," she added. "At this time, speculation is unhelpful and compassion will achieve more than media curiosity."
None of the teenagers' families were present at the four-minute hearing.
According to the Daily Mail, the teenagers were reported missing on November 20 after they failed to return home from the trip. The boys started their journey on November 18, stayed overnight with Hirst's grandfather in the seaside town of Harlech, and started to Snowdonia the following morning.
Teenage boys remembered fondly by close friends and family
After the tragic accident, Owen's mother, Crystal, took to Facebook to share her grief. She wrote, "I feel like I'm in a nightmare I wish I could wake up from but I'm not."
According to BBC Fitchett's girlfriend, Maddi Corfield, who wrote on social media, remembering her late boyfriend, "I'm going to miss you forever. The sweetest and most loving boy I've ever known. I hope you know how much I love you, gorgeous," she wrote.
