SEATTLE, WASHINGTON: President Joe Biden said his predecessor, Donald Trump, was "clearly unhinged" and "something snapped" in the ex-president after his defeat in the 2020 presidential election, reported CNN.

Speaking at a private fundraiser in Seattle on Saturday, May 11, the 81-year-old told his supporters, "It's clear that … when he lost in 2020, something snapped in him."

"He's not only obsessed with losing in 2020, but he's also clearly unhinged. Just listen to what he's telling people," Biden added, according to reports in the room.

After sweeping the respective party primaries and caucuses, Biden and Trump entered a historic presidential rematch in March.

Biden says 2024 presidential race will be 'close'

Despite calling the Republican presumptive nominee "unhinged," Biden admitted that the November election would be "close."

"We feel good about the state of the race, but we know the race is close," he said, citing the recent presidential polls.

The incumbent, whose popularity has decreased compared to his 2020 race, is behind Trump in national polls.

According to a recent CNN poll conducted by SSRS, 49% supported the former president, while the POTUS stood at 43%. Similarly, as per a new poll by The Wall Street Journal, Trump is leading Biden between 2 and 8% points in six of seven key battleground states.

The ongoing unrest in US campuses due to the pro-Palestine protests harmed the incumbent's polling. In addition, his threat towards Israel to block more weapons shipments if it defies the opposition to a full-scale invasion of Rafah could also affect Biden ahead of the November 5 election.

While the president was active in campaigning for his re-election bid, taking a swipe at the MAGA spearhead, the latter was stuck inside the Manhattan courtroom last week for the criminal hush money trial against him.

"By the way, remember when he was trying to deal with Covid, he said just inject a little bleach in your veins?" Biden mocked Trump while speaking at North America's Building Trades Unions conference last month. "He missed. It all went to his hair."

The May 11 private fundraiser in Washington was held at former Microsoft executive Jon Shirley's home.

"I'll try my best not to disappoint you," Biden said to donors while concluding his speech.

Internet ridicules Joe Biden

Netizens pointed at Biden's verbal gaffes to mock him for calling Trump "unhinged."

One user wrote, "Pot calling the kettle black??" Another remarked, "Coming from the guy who can barely put a coherent sentence together or make it up/down a flight of stairs..."

Meanwhile, a user commented on Facebook, "That is funny coming from Senile Joe, He is either yelling or whispering. . Sometimes he looks so clueless."

A second response said, "Joe isn’t the sharpest crayon in the box and he proves it everyday," and another added, "'Unhinged'? ....Now that's funny coming from the guy who either whispers or screams.......but makes absolutely ZERO sense!"

"Says the one that can't even read a teleprompter..." said someone else.

An individual wrote, "That’s like the pot calling the kettle black. There’s over 70 million and maybe more voters that’d take him over the current show in Washington. Joe’s gotta go."

"Didn’t Biden just say his uncle was eaten by cannibals?" another asked.
