WASHINGTON, DC: Former President Donald Trump furiously took to social media on Friday, February 16, accusing media outlets of using artificial intelligence to fabricate a fake image of him on the golf course with a huge belly.

Trump wrote on the social media platform Truth Social, "The Fake News used Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) to create the picture on the top left. These are despicable people, but everyone knows that."

The digitally altered picture of Donald Trump

The embarrassing photo allegedly shows the former commander-in-chief mid-swing, his protruding belly pressing up against his shirt's material. Even if the image has been digitally altered, artificial intelligence is not responsible for it.

This authentic photo of professional golfer John Daly, a Trump supporter, from 2017 has the former president's head overlaid over the winners of the 1991 PGA Championship and the 1995 Open Championship, according to fact-checking website Snopes.

Donald Trump fumes at media houses for sharing fake photos

In order "to show the difference," Trump—who gave Fulton County officials his weight as 215 pounds when he turned himself in last August—included real images of him playing golf on Friday in his Truth Social post.

He said, "Sadly, in our Country, Fake News is all you get!" However, it's unclear if any media sources distributed the Trump-Daly mashup image.

The tweet from the front-runner for the GOP presidential nomination in 2024 was made just after a court in New York ordered him to pay $355 million and to be temporarily barred from conducting business in the Empire State for exaggerating his net worth by billions to obtain agreements and loans from banks and insurance companies.

Internet mocks Donald Trump for complaining

Several internet users mocked Donald Trump after his morphed image surfaced on the internet. A user wrote on social media platform X, "How stupid do you have to be to believe this AI image? Pretty stupid is the answer" whereas one commented, "So they can act like he lost a bunch of weight and jump to conclusions No the deep state wouldn’t do that."



 

Another person added, "Trump's backswing doesn't go that far that's John Daly," while one stated, "Does this red MAGA hat make me look fat?" A person also mentioned, "I’m pretty sure it was the Big Macs."
