NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Podcast host Megyn Kelly criticized New York politicians Zohran Mamdani and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, accusing them of exaggerating their humble beginnings to gain political traction.

During the June 30 episode of 'The Megyn Kelly Show,' she referred to both as privileged “cosplayers” pretending to be working-class to appeal to voters.

Kelly called Mamdani’s references to the “third world” performative and labeled Ocasio-Cortez a “liar” for allegedly overstating her Bronx roots. She also drew on her own background to argue that leaving out key context can result in a misleading personal narrative.

On a recent episode of 'The Megyn Kelly Show,' podcast host Megyn Kelly slammed Zohran Mamdani, accusing him of exaggerating his working-class roots to gain political support.

According to TheWrap, Kelly referenced a viral video of Mamdani eating with his hands, as an example of what she called “performative relatability.” She claimed Mamdani is “cosplaying as a third-world person” despite his elite upbringing.

“He lived in Uganda for the first seven years and then moved here. He’s 33. This video of him eating with his fingers is circulating while he’s talking about how he understands the third world,” Kelly said.

“That’s not how somebody who’s American eats, but it’s him cosplaying third-world person and understanding third world even though his mother is a multi-millionaire film director and his father is a chair professor at Columbia!"

Kelly went on to spotlight Mamdani’s privileged background, his mother, acclaimed filmmaker Mira Nair, once turned down the opportunity to direct a 'Harry Potter' film.

“He talked her out of doing it in favor of directing something that was more akin with their values, and that made $20 million," Kelly said.

Kelly quipped, “This is the guy who’s going to be our economic steward in America’s greatest city? Once you forgo the billion-dollar film for the $20 million film, because it’ll make me feel good about myself.”

Megyn Kelly calls Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez a 'liar'

In another video released the same day on 'The Megyn Kelly Show,' Kelly criticized Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez during a conversation with writer Walter Kirn, accusing her of misrepresenting her upbringing.

“She’s a liar. She’s another cosplayer,” Kelly said, claiming that AOC dramatizes her background to gain political credibility. “Anyone can do what she’s doing, you look at your circumstances and talk about them in the most dire terms possible to make yourself sound tougher than you are, to make it seem like you overcame more than you did, and, in her case, to make it sound like you have street cred when you try to fight the oligarchy. Honestly."

Kelly argued that while Ocasio-Cortez did live in the Bronx, it was only until the age of five. She was primarily raised in a wealthy suburb of Westchester County. “What she wants to do is inflate those five years of Bronx living, when she was a toddler, into her actual origin story,” Kelly said.

Internet reacts to Megyn Kelly mocking Zohran Mamdani and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

As Megyn Kelly’s videos criticizing Zohran Mamdani and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez were posted to her YouTube channel, internet users quickly weighed in with a flood of reactions.

One commenter advised, “He should give up his lavish billionaire lifestyle, not take a mayoral salary. Walk the talk.” Another wrote, “Funny, AOC was literally cast in her role as well.”

A third user shared, “Exactly what I’ve been thinking. His film background has served him well in politics, even though he clearly wasn’t skilled enough to work in entertainment either.”

Other users didn’t hold back: “He’s dangerous,” one person declared.

Another said, “He is definitely a nepo baby.” A viewer slammed AOC, writing, “She’s a fake. Just all mouth.” One dubbed, “AOC is delusional.” Another joked, “Listening to AOC speak is like having your fingernails removed.” And one user bluntly commented, “Dear AOC, if stupid could fly, you’d be a jet.”
