NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: 'Weekend' co-host Rachel Campos shared her report on the illegal immigration situation at the national border in Arizona on the February 27 episode of 'Fox & Friends'.

Interacting with the migrants on an Indian reservation on the Arizona-Mexico border, she discovered that they overwhelmingly favored Joe Biden over Donald Trump as the President of the United States when it comes to policies on illegal immigration.

"Who is best for illegal immigration? Donald Trump or Joe Biden?" she asked a group of five adults, to which all of them answered in favor of the latter.

Campos described the reservation as a "soft shelter" that served as the first stop for the incoming people before they were transported to processing centers.

According to Fox News, the number of illegal southern border encounters has reached nearly 7.3 million since Biden entered office.

Migrants tell Rachel Campos their reasons for entering the United States

In her conversations with the immigrants, Campos learned of the numerous reasons driving people away from their home countries.

A group explained that they were seeking shelter in America to escape violence and ensure the safety of their families. A father among them stressed that it became necessary to make the move after his neighbor was killed.

A migrant policeman told Campos of the threats against him as the cartels are "worse than ever" because of corruption. The co-host reported that "the cartels have never been stronger. That corruption is at a sky-high right now in Mexico. Obviously, this operation, the human trafficking operation, is fueling that."

Another migrant who was headed for Florida claimed that he was kidnapped for a week in Mexico, traumatizing his wife.

The cost of entering the United States amounted to $3000 for one migrant, while it went up to $5000 for another.

Americans see illegal immigrants as a 'critical threat'

The Gallup poll, published on February 27, found that 55% of adults in the United States believe "large numbers of immigrants entering the United States illegally" are a "critical threat" to US vital interests. The number is up by 8% from 2023, according to Fox News.

Among those who participated in the poll, 31% felt that large numbers of immigrants entering illegally are an "important" threat while 14% thought that it was not important.

In the 2023 fiscal year, the record for yearly encounters at the southern border was broken when more than 2.4 million migrants were encountered.
