Recommendations are brutal': Internet in splits as 'The View' hosts debate if Guantanamo Bay or Rikers will suit Trump better
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: The hosts of 'The View' delved into the topic of Donald Trump potentially facing jail time for repeatedly violating the gag order imposed by the judge in his criminal fraud trial.
During the morning of the May 7 discussion, they pondered which jail Trump should be sent to if it comes to that.

Moderator Whoopi Goldberg started by poking fun at Trump for his tendency to complain online and being labeled a "snowflake."
Host Sunny Hostin suggested that to prevent a courtroom situation similar to what happened with Judge Lance Ito in the OJ Simpson trial, where control was lost, Judge Merchan should consider giving Trump jail time to reinforce the gag order's importance.

As the conversation progressed, Goldberg visibly became animated, eagerly raising her hand to steer the discussion toward which prison would most fit for Trump.

Hostin promptly suggested Rikers Island, a suggestion that Goldberg endorsed. However, she also floated other options.
"You know, I’m OK if he goes to Alcatraz, and they reopen it," she suggested. "What about Guantanamo Bay?"
This idea excited host Ana Navarro, who quipped about the convenience of Guantanamo Bay's proximity to Florida, where Trump resides.
"Oh, that’d be close to Mar-a-Lago, Melania can come and visit," Navarro joked.
Goldberg added one more possibility for her co-hosts to consider: a super-maximum security prison.
"Chapo was in supermax. You know, hey now, he wants to be with the hip people, come on!" Goldberg quipped humorously.
In reality, if Trump were ordered to serve time, the most probable scenario would be a stint at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
This is because the other options mentioned, such as Rikers Island, Alcatraz, Guantanamo Bay, and super-maximum security prisons, are generally used for long-term inmate housing post-sentencing.
