WASHINGTON, DC: Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr offered a frank glimpse into President Donald Trump’s eating habits this week, telling a podcast audience that he was often astonished by what the Commander-in-Chief consumed while on the road.

Speaking on 'The Katie Miller Podcast' on Tuesday, January 13, Kennedy was asked by host Katie Miller, wife of White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller, which member of the cabinet has the most “unhinged” relationship with food.

Kennedy immediately named the president.

“The president,” Robert F Kennedy Jr replied. “You know, the interesting thing about the president is that he eats really bad food – which is McDonald’s – and then, you know, candy and Diet Coke.”

Kennedy further focused on the frequency of the soda. “But he drinks the Diet Coke at all times,” he said. Despite that routine, Kennedy expressed surprise at Trump’s stamina. “He has a constitution of a deity. I don’t know how he’s alive, but he is.”

Fast food for safety reasons

Kennedy said Trump viewed fast food as a practical choice while traveling. “He says that the only time that he eats the junk food is when he’s on the road and he wants to eat food from big corporations because he trusts it,” Kennedy explained. “He doesn’t want to get sick when he’s on the road.”

Kennedy added that traveling with the president left a distinct impression. “So, I think you get this if you travel with him, you get this idea that he’s just pumping himself full of poison all day long,” he said.

Kennedy said that Trump’s habits changed once he was back at the White House or Mar-a-Lago. “But when he’s at Mar-a-Lago or at the White House, he’s eating really good food,” he stated.

He reconciled the contrast by pointing to the president’s energy level. Kennedy said that people often wondered “how he’s walking around, much less being the most energetic person any of us have ever met.”

He added, “I think he actually does eat pretty good food usually. I mean, he’s got incredible health.”

Scrutiny over the president's health

Trump’s health remained a recurring subject as he entered his second term. The president will turn 80 in June, making him the oldest individual to serve in the office.

Last month, the White House released medical information stating that Trump was in “excellent health,” including results from an MRI scan.

Officials said that the visible bruising on his hand was consistent with routine aspirin use, seeking to dispel concerns about his physical condition.
