He was lucky that it hadn’t spread. "I’ll be in the hospital for a few days having prostate surgery," he shared.

However, that didn't stop him from continuing his work and sharing his political views ahead of the presidential election in November.

In the video, Steves urged Americans to think beyond partisanship and consider global challenges in the upcoming election.

"As a traveler, I'm both a proud American and a citizen of the world — and I've got a few thoughts on this coming election," Steves wrote.

The travel writer stressed the need for international cooperation, particularly in addressing major global issues such as pandemics, refugees, and climate change as the Washington Times also noted.

"This election is deeper than partisanship. It's far more than Republican versus Democrat," Steves added.

He expressed his opposition to former president Donald Trump, citing concerns over American isolationism.

Internet reacts to Rick Steves' support for Kamala Harris

Rick Steves’ political stance endorsing Kamala Harris garnered mixed reactions from followers.

One user on X expressed disappointment, writing, “I just like your travel-related content. Didn’t expect you to get political. Very disappointing.”

Another said, "Rick, I love your shows, however, please stay out of politics. It dirties & cheapens your brand."

However, one said, "you’re the best"

"I have been a life long fan. Appreciate your thoughts and insights. I am happy that you are exactly the type of kind person that I thought you would be," wrote one more.
