During a press conference following Ortiz’s arraignment, Hochman described how close the couple came to potential harm.
Photos taken at the property showed that the bullets first pierced a front security gate before continuing onto the driveway area. The gunfire then struck the windshield of an Airstream trailer that was parked on the property.
According to Hochman, Rihanna and Rocky were inside that trailer at the moment the shots were fired.
The couple’s children and other family members were also present at the property when the incident happened. Authorities said the pair’s three children, along with Rihanna’s mother and two staff members, were inside the main house during the shooting.
The gunfire did not stop there. Investigators also confirmed that shots reached a neighboring home. Two people were inside that residence when the bullets struck the property.
Ivanna Ortiz charged with attempted murder, assault
Ortiz now faces a long list of serious charges connected to the incident. Prosecutors said she was charged with 14 counts in total.

Authorities said several individuals were present in the homes and on the property when the gunfire erupted, increasing the severity of the case. Ortiz’s bail has been set at $1.875 million.
DA Nathan Hochman comments on celebrity safety
The shooting quickly raised questions about whether celebrities in Los Angeles should be worried about their safety following the incident.
When asked about that possibility during the press conference, Hochman said he did not believe the event should cause widespread fear among public figures living in the city.
He credited the quick response from law enforcement for sending a strong message.
“LA-based celebrities should not be any additionally worried because of this in large part because of the response of the police,” Hochman told reporters. He also stressed that authorities acted quickly after the incident.
“The incredibly timely prompt response of the police on this sends that message to any person that is even thinking of using a gun in this community that they face arrest, prosecution, and punishment,” Hochman said.
