Police pursue suspect vehicle before arrest; neighbor describes gunfire
According to authorities, officers responded to a 911 call reporting shots fired and used a helicopter to track a white Tesla believed to be connected to the shooting.
Police said the vehicle fled the area along Coldwater Canyon Drive before being located in a shopping center in Sherman Oaks. The suspect was arrested about 30 minutes after the emergency call was made, police said.
Details about where the suspect came from or what prompted the incident were not immediately released by investigators. Neighbors said they heard sudden gunfire in what is usually a quiet residential neighborhood.
One nearby resident said that the sound of gunshots was unexpected. "I was somewhat taken aback," the woman said. "Such incidents are uncommon in this neighborhood. It is generally very peaceful." Authorities continued gathering evidence at the scene on Sunday, March 8, while examining damage to the property.
The investigation remains ongoing as police work to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting and whether the suspect had any prior connection to the property or the individuals who live there.
