WASHINGTON, DC: During an event for the ‘No Kings’ movement, actor Robert De Niro spoke out against President Donald Trump and his policies. He called for more public protests and stronger voter turnout ahead of upcoming elections.

During a kickoff call for a national day of action, De Niro addressed supporters and discussed what he described as the most pressing issues in politics and the economy.

Calls against wars and deportation

His remarks focused on inflation, immigration enforcement, and foreign policy.

De Niro said, “It doesn’t matter if you’re a Democrat, a Republican, or an Independent—no one, no one voted for new wars. No one voted for higher prices at the pump. No one voted for higher prices in grocery stores. No one voted for higher prices in the housing market.”

He also criticized deportation policies and alleged government overreach, adding, “No one voted for deporting our good neighbors.”

“And no one voted for government-masked thugs shooting down our citizens in the streets,” he added.

The actor accused the administration of ignoring voter priorities, saying, “Trump isn’t paying attention to what we voted for.”

These remarks were part of a larger appeal to supporters of the “No Kings” campaign, which is organizing protests and other events.

Calls for protests and civic engagement

De Niro urged participants to engage in what he described as three forms of “voting.”

“First, vote with your feet in the nonviolent No Kings demonstration on March 28th. But we will get his attention in the November elections. That’s why I’m asking you to vote three times,” he said.

He also encouraged supporters to contribute time and resources to opposing the administration’s policies, including helping with voter registration and participating in peaceful protests.

“And second, you have to vote by answering the call to fight this insane administration,” he added.

De Niro stressed that the November elections were the ultimate goal, saying, “And finally, third, vote in the election November 3rd. That is the ultimate goal. But first, you have to vote by joining the No Kings demonstrations.”

He warned that failing to engage in both protest activity and electoral processes could have long-term consequences.

“And if you don’t do both of those, you may never get to vote at all. It’s crazy, but it’s come to that. So now, it’s up to you. It’s up to all of us. Thank you.”
