WASHINGTON, DC: Robert F Kennedy Jr is raising eyebrows with his bizarre antics once again—this time with a little blue liquid.

A video of the presidential hopeful-turned-health czar shows him casually adding a mysterious bright blue substance to his drink mid-flight, and social media can't help but speculate what it is.

The clip — originally shared by the account American AF on X (formerly Twitter) — has racked up over 8.1 million views and counting. In it, Kennedy Jr is seen seated on an airplane, carefully pouring the vivid blue liquid from a tiny vial into his water.

Internet sleuths didn’t waste a second before jumping in with theories, and the overwhelming consensus is that he's dosing himself with methylene blue.

Robert F Kennedy Jr isn’t just any passenger sneaking questionable substances onto a flight. He’s President Donald Trump’s nominee for Health and Human Services Secretary, and his confirmation is currently pending a vote on the Senate floor after clearing the Senate Finance Committee.

Given his well-documented views on health—from vaccine skepticism to concerns about chemicals in food—it’s no surprise that he's into alternative medicine and biohacking.

The America AF account simply posed the question, "What is RFK Jr. putting in his drink...?"

“Looks like RFK Jr. is in on one of the best-kept secrets in biohacking—Methylene Blue,” wellness influencer and self-proclaimed “biohacker” Gary Brecka responded.

Some others had rather sarcastic responses.

"ODing on dye to own the libs is based," one quipped.

"Is that why his voice sounds like that?" another joked.

"This reminds me of that one libertarian that ate so much silver he turned himself permanently blue," someone chimed in, referring to Libertarian politician Stan Jones, who famously turned his skin permanently blue from excessive colloidal silver consumption.

But for every joke, there were plenty of people who agreed with Brecka’s take. Methylene blue isn’t just some random coloring agent—it’s a favorite among biohackers and alternative health enthusiasts.

What’s the deal with Methylene Blue?

Methylene blue is no newbie in the world of medicine. This deep blue synthetic compound has been used for over a century in various medical, scientific, and industrial applications. It’s actually a phenothiazine derivative (science speak for its chemical classification), and while it’s often used as a dye, it also has some serious medical uses.

One of its primary functions is treating methemoglobinemia, a rare blood disorder where oxygen delivery is impaired. It works as a reducing agent, helping red blood cells restore their ability to carry oxygen efficiently, according to Newsweek.

But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Some researchers believe methylene blue has antioxidant properties that could protect against neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinson’s. There are also claims about its potential cognitive benefits, including enhancement of memory, focus, and mitochondrial function.

Naturally, the biohacking community has latched onto it as the latest anti-aging, brain-boosting miracle substance—though its effectiveness is still under investigation.

And Kennedy Jr isn’t the only high-profile name associated with it. In a January episode of Joe Rogan’s podcast, actor and outspoken Trump supporter Mel Gibson made an interesting claim about methylene blue’s alleged cancer-fighting powers.

“I have three friends. All of three of them had stage IV cancer,” Gibson said and continued, “All three of them don’t have cancer right now at all.”

Whether there’s actual science to back up Gibson’s claim is another question entirely, but Google searches for methylene blue have spiked since Kennedy Jr's viral video. People are scrambling to figure out what it is, what it does, and whether they should be adding it to their own drinks.

During his confirmation hearing, Kennedy Jr notably emphasized: "We need to shift our focus from a disease-care system to a true healthcare system, prioritizing prevention and wellness to reduce the burden of chronic diseases."
