Robert Garcia calls Trump ‘pathetic loser’, backs Jan 6 officers suing POTUS over $1.8B fund

Robert Garcia alleged Trump negotiated the $1.8B fund himself, potentially distributing it to allies, election deniers, or even benefiting personally

WASHINGTON, DC: Representative Robert Garcia targeted President Donald Trump during an appearance on MS NOW, calling him a “small, pathetic loser” over the new $1.8 billion fund.

Garcia strongly backed lawsuits filed by police officers against the initiative, which aims to provide financial support to January 6 rioters.

Robert Garcia attacks Trump's new $1.8 billion support fund

Appearing on Wednesday, May 20’s episode of 'Deadline: White House,' Robert Garcia targeted Trump’s newly established $1.8 billion fund.

The program is designed to assist individuals who claim to be victims of the Biden administration, including those facing charges related to the January 6 Capitol protests.

Speaking to host Nicolle Wallace, Garcia labeled the initiative as “complete corruption from the most corrupt president.”

The California Democrat continued his criticisms by taking aim at Trump's broader financial and business dealings. “This fund might be the most corrupt thing that the president has actually done on top of the crypto funds, the real estate deals, selling access to the White House, the investment funds,” Garcia said.

“The idea that you’re going to take $1.8 billion that you negotiated yourself between your own government and then hand it out to criminals, to traitors, to election deniers, to Donald Trump’s friends for all we know — to himself possibly. We have no idea what Donald Trump is thinking.”

Robert Garcia demands Speaker Mike Johnson denounce fund

Garcia then directed his criticism toward Republican leadership, demanding that Speaker Mike Johnson break ranks and publicly object to the project.

The congressman urged Johnson to “have a backbone” and “denounce this fund,” claiming that the money used for the program is a direct slight against American taxpayers.

“There shouldn’t be an American on the ground anywhere in this country that should support what’s happening. He is stealing your money. He is stealing our money directly from your pockets and putting it into his and into the pockets of his friends,” Garcia said.

Robert Garcia backs police officers' lawsuit against Trump's support initiative

While Garcia did not explicitly name plaintiffs Harry Dunn and Daniel Hodges, the two law enforcement officers suing over the initiative, he used the platform to firmly back their lawsuit.

He argued that setting up a legal defense fund for the individuals who gathered at the Capitol shows a lack of appreciation for the police force.

“And the complete lack of respect for law enforcement, to give a penny to the January 6ers, the people that invaded this Capitol, that attacked this Capitol, that tried to overthrow an election, just goes to show you the kind of man that Donald Trump is,” Garcia said.

“He’s a small, pathetic loser who has no business getting a dime to give to anybody,” he said.
