Rosie O'Donnell took to Instagram to express her pain after her daughter, Chelsea, was sentenced to prison on October 22 for probation violation as per PEOPLE.
The probation was established in March 2024 after Chelsea pleaded guilty to felony charges of resisting or obstructing an officer, bail jumping, and possession of illegal substances.
Posting a younger picture of Chelsea, O'Donnell wrote: "My child chelsea belle – before addiction took over her life – i loved her then i love her now as she faces a scary future,” adding, "Prayers are welcomed," and including hashtags for addiction awareness, love, and family.
It is to be noted that O'Donnell and her former partner, Kelli Carpenter, adopted Chelsea shortly after she was born in 1997.
History of Chelsea O'Donnell's probation violation and sentencing
Chelsea O'Donnell's criminal troubles worsened a year ago with three consecutive arrests in Wisconsin from September to December.
After her third arrest, O'Donnell spoke about the incident on Instagram, saying: "So yes this is true," and continuing, "After being bailed out by her birth mother – chelsea was arrested again – and is facing many charges related to her drug addiction. We all hope she is able to get the help she needs to turn her life around.”
Chelsea actually received six years of probation in March 2024, with terms requiring sobriety, no association with drug users, and no ownership of controlled substances without a prescription or possession of any firearms. That being said, the later revocation of this probation resulted in her current prison term.

Chelsea has four children: daughters Skylar, Riley, and Avery Lynn with a past relationship with Jacob Bourassa, and a son, Atlas, born in October 2023 with her current boyfriend, Jacob Nelund.
O'Donnell highlighted the family's ongoing support, saying, “We continue to love and support her through these horrible times, Prayers welcomed.”
