Rosie O’Donnell publicly pushed back against a viral satirical post that falsely claimed her US passport had been revoked. In an Instagram post shared with her 1.2 million followers on October 16, she posted a screenshot of a so-called “fact check” reading, “Marco Rubio confirmed Rosie O'Donnell's passport revoked?” She captioned it with a blunt response: “Can we all say BULLS**T in unison? ALL THEY DO IS LIE – ALWAYS #NOKINGS #FDT.”
The rumor, which falsely alleged that Secretary of State Marco Rubio had confirmed the cancellation of O’Donnell’s passport, spread rapidly across social media. It claimed she had forfeited her US citizenship and would be forced to remain in Ireland. The post even included a fabricated quote attributed to Rubio, “She wanted to be an Irish citizen. Now she can stay there.”

The story originated from America’s Last Line of Defense, a known parody account that openly labels its content as fictional. There is no evidence that Rubio ever made such a statement, nor is there any indication that O’Donnell renounced her citizenship. She was born in New York and remains a US citizen protected under the 14th Amendment.
Where did the rumor about Rosie O'Donnell's passport begin?
The false rumor about Rosie O’Donnell’s revoked passport resurfaced just weeks after she announced on TikTok that she had moved to Ireland with her family in January 2025.
In the video, O'Donnell explained that she planned to apply for dual citizenship due to her Irish ancestry.
The story gained even more traction on July 12 when President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social. He wrote, “Because of the fact that Rosie O’Donnell is not in the best interests of our Great Country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her Citizenship. She is a Threat to Humanity, and should remain in the wonderful Country of Ireland, if they want her. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”

O’Donnell responded directly on Instagram with a scathing statement.

She wrote, “The president of the usa has always hated the fact that i see him for who he is - a criminal con man sexual abusing liar out to harm our nation to serve himself - this is why i moved to ireland - he is a dangerous old soulless man with dementia who lacks empathy compassion and basic humanity- i stand in direct opposition all he represents- so do millions of others - u gonna deport all who stand against ur evil tendencies - ur a bad joke who cant form a coherent sentence #nevertrump." She later added: “I’m not yours to silence. I never was."
On September 3, Trump reignited the feud with another post on Truth Social, declaring, “She is not a Great American and is, in my opinion, incapable of being so!”
