Rubio credits Trump for wave of 'Pro-American' governments across western hemisphere

WASHINGTON, DC: Secretary of State Marco Rubio, during the first-ever televised Camp David cabinet meeting on Friday, July 31, touted the rise of pro-American, pro-Western governments around the world.

On Friday, President Donald Trump held his first televised Cabinet meeting from the Camp David presidential retreat in Maryland. This session marked the 13th Cabinet meeting of his second term and the first time a full meeting was broadcast live from this historic site.

Marco Rubio credits Trump for pro-US hemisphere shift

Rubio credited President Trump with a political shift across the Western Hemisphere, saying nearly every election since Trump took office has produced pro-American leaders and that the region is now overwhelmingly led by governments aligned with the US.

"Virtually every election that's happened in the Western Hemisphere, since you were elected president, has elected someone who is pro-American,” Rubio said, addressing Trump during the meeting.

Rubio said the Western Hemisphere is now largely led by pro-American governments, calling it the first time in 15 to 20 years that most countries in the region have elected leaders aligned with the United States.

"For the first time in 15-20 years, the overwhelming majority of the countries in the Western Hemisphere are now led by pro-American leaders and pro-American governments. It's an extraordinary achievement," Rubio added.

Trump warns Democrats would trigger border crisis

President Trump took Friday's Cabinet meeting on the road — to the Camp David presidential retreat in Maryland.

Trump began the meeting by noting it was "something very unique."

"It's Camp David, and this room is a very, very special room," Trump said, as the White House spent Friday morning highlighting that the meeting was the first televised Cabinet meeting at the storied presidential retreat.

Trump, as he spoke during the meeting, jumped into his usual talking points about the economy, the border, and Iran — but then referred to the recent surge of migrants into Ceuta, a tiny territory of Spain.

Trump suggested voters should take the visuals of illegal migrants entering Ceuta as a warning sign to refrain from voting for Democrats in the midterms, warning that the same thing could happen in America if Democrats come to power.

"You know I saw Spain yesterday, and I watched the catastrophe that took place. It looks like an invasion of a country by hundreds of thousands of people," Trump said.

"And that same thing is going to happen to us if the Republicans don't get elected. Except worse, much bigger," he added.
