MANCHESTER, NEW HAMPSHIRE: Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani was caught in a freak accident on a New Hampshire highway on Saturday, August 30, that left him with a fractured vertebra, cuts, and bruises. However, the 81-year-old “America’s Mayor” is already bouncing back.

Giuliani’s representative and head of security, Michael Ragusa, said the former mayor was a passenger in a Ford Bronco around 10 pm when it was hit from behind.

“Mayor Giuliani was flagged down by a woman who was a victim of domestic violence prior to the accident. He rendered assistance and contacted 911, remaining on scene until responding officers arrived to ensure her safety,” said Ragusa. “The accident occurred after he re-entered his vehicle, which was then hit from behind at high speed.”

New Hampshire State Police confirmed Giuliani’s ride was being driven by Theodore Goodman of Michigan when it was rear-ended by a Honda HR-V piloted by 19-year-old Lauren Kemp of Concord.

Troopers actually saw the crash unfold on I-93. Both vehicles smashed into the median and were left “heavily damaged,” cops said.

Giuliani, Goodman, and Kemp were all hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. No charges have been filed.

Rudy Giuliani in 'great spirits' despite injuries

The ex-mayor was left with injuries to his left arm and lower leg, in addition to the fractured vertebra. Ragusa confirmed, “No one knew it was [Giuliani]” in the rental car.

Despite the beat-up body, Giuliani is cracking jokes and keeping spirits high. “The mayor is in great spirits. He’s a beast. He survived 9/11,” Ragusa said, adding his boss will likely be in the Manchester-area hospital for a couple more days before being fitted with a back brace.

The 81-year-old's son Andrew Giuliani told the New York Post, “Thank Goodness he’s doing OK. Fractured vertebrae. More to come … Please keep him in your prayers.”

Andrew later posted on X (formerly Twitter), “I can tell you I’m honored to have a Dad that I can call the toughest SOB I’ve ever seen!”

Business partner Maria Ryan, who doubles as a nurse practitioner, said, “He’s getting further tests and stabilization of his injuries.”

Ragusa clarified, “This was not a targeted attack. We ask everyone to respect Mayor Giuliani’s privacy and recovery, and refrain from spreading unfounded conspiracy theories.”

From ‘America’s Mayor’ to Trump loyalist

The crash comes after some rocky years for the onetime presidential hopeful, who rose to international fame as “America’s Mayor” in the wake of the September 11 terror attacks.

He famously launched a Senate run against Hillary Clinton in 2000, before dropping out after a prostate cancer diagnosis.

Giuliani later morphed into Donald Trump’s personal attorney, loudly backing his 2020 election fraud claims. Trump’s team lost dozens of cases, and reviews of the results turned up no evidence of wrongdoing.

The fallout was costly. Two Georgia election workers won a whopping $148 million defamation judgment against Giuliani. When they tried to collect, he was held in contempt of court before ultimately cutting a deal to keep his homes, prized World Series rings, and other assets.

Most recently, Giuliani put his ritzy Upper East Side co-op on the market for $4.95 million after nearly losing it to that defamation lawsuit.
